Emerald reserve??

We reserved an Emerald reserve full size. Can we pick up a car from the Emerald aisle if we see something better?? I'm thinking with gas prices going up they might start adding suvs and minivans to the EA.

I had asked this same question about a week ago. The answer was
1. Someone else had done it with no problem.
2. People on these boards would be very upset if they found out that you could secure a full size car and then take something they were entitled to on the emerald aisle.

I am not certain yet how that would work.

If you reserve a full size 4 door, using a double upgrade coupon, then you would have still paid for the intermediate so it all works out in the wash.

If however, you reserve the compact car and get the choice of a full size 2 door/4 door, then I could see that maybe that would be not be allowed.

If you reserved the full size without the upgrade coupon, then you are already paying more than the intermediate so why would it matter?

I will tell you that people are saying they are not seeing as many full size SUV or Mini vans on the emerald aisle like they used too.

I guess it goes back to the old saying....It couldn't hurt to ask when you get there.

I would aske before I did it. With any rental car company if you "change" the terms then they can decide to enforce new terms on you. So if you picked up a car off a different aisle then it is possible they could change your rate. I am not saying they would, but they would have the right to since you took something "different" from what you originally had EVEN if it would have cost less had you booked the "different" car. (They don't look at what your reservation MIGHT have cost, only what they can charge for that vehicle RIGHT now and walk up rates are VERY high!)


Also, I don't think the gas prices are going to drive a lot of SUV's and/or minivans over to EA. The truth is that overall EA is designed for business travelers who tend to get upset if they have to take a minivan. (I know I won't take one) Also, in Orlando most folks who reserve one of those bigger vehicles do it because it's what they need so the gas prices aren't going to drive them to a mid size, National is still going to rent the vehicles.

Thanks, sounds like we should just ask if we decide to do this. I'm glad to hear someone else has done this without any problems.

- I did not use an upgrade coupon, I reserved my car using the EC contract code and we decided to reserve a full size, since, we neeeded more room.

The reason I asked was because last January, I found on the EA a Chevrolet Equinox and I absolutely loved driving it. There were also a couple of Pontiac and Saturn suvs.

I reserved what we needed a full size and we will be happy with an Impala or any other full size car.
