Hi all,
I know how easy it is to have multiple ressies for cars (I always have a couple until I settle on price etc.) But, it never occured to me that I could reserve an intermediate EI hoping for a minivan AND hold a minvan ressie in case there are no vans on the EI. Something about this seems not quite right to me...but is it possible? When you pull out how do they know what ressie to use?

Anne

They have your credit card number and could charge you a $50 no-show fee because you did not cancel in advance.

Why wouldn't you book the minivan through Emerald Reserve? If you do that, there's really no reason a van wouldn't be there.

I was worried last year about my booking for 8-person minivan through ER, afraid all the eight-seaters would be gone when I got there, but they were holding one back for me.

I have a reservation with emerald reserve, but the emerald aisle is 140 bucks cheaper....guess I am just trying to save a few bucks. :rolleyes1

Well, not to mention even if they hit you with the $50 no show on the other reservation (which is very unlikely) you have the possiblity of saving $110. On FlyerTalk, there are many many people that do the multiple ressie stratagy every day sucessfully...

That's an eye opener for me, I had no idea that ER was more expensive. Duh.

Hi,
I am trying to rent a minivan. As silly as it sounds, it's actually the first time I ever rented a vehicle! If you don't mind, would someone mind explaining how to go about having multiple reservations? Do any of the car places charge if you cancel? Thanks!

Most rental car companies allow you to reserve without a credit card guarantee. However, most programs that have a "skip the counter" program do require a CC to reserve. I often tinker and change ressies numerous times while planning because new coupons and deals come out. I have never had a problem having multiple ressies for the same time with the same company. I have always settled in a week or so ahead of our trip and cancelled the unwanted ressies.

does that help? :thumbsup2

ER is higher since you are guaranteeing the class of car you really want. EA guarantees you a mid size only.
