We have booked flights for April and are now deciding on where to stay. Last year we had a townhouse at Emerald Island - and we would be quite happy to go back. However, our accommodation contact has suggested we consider a townhouse at Windsor Hills. We have stayed at Windsor Palms - but understand that Windsor Hills is a newer development.

Anyone stayed there? If so, what did you think? How does it compare with Emerald Island or Windsor Palms?

Hi,

Emerld Island is much nicer than Windsor Hills in my opinion. I've stayed at both and actually bought a 5-bed home in Emerald Island recently. Windsor Hills has a nicer community pool and some fancier "stuff" at the clubhouse, but the overall look and "feel" of the resort is not even close to Emerald Island. The landscaping at Emerald Island is gorgeous and it just seems less confined.

To me, it looks like the builder squeezed too much into too little space and everything seems crowded. Windsor Hills also has 4 or 5 storey condo buildings that dominate the entry to the resort.

The houses are very similar on both resorts.

Also, I like the location of Emerald Island better because it's so close (and easy to get to) the Formosa Gardens shopping center where I'm sure you've shopped before. It's also closer to Disney property of you take the Sherberth Rd. shortcut to the Animal Kingdom.

Good luck with your decision. You can't go wrong either way but the fact that you stayed at EI before and were happy, there's no reason to change.

I agree EI is much nicer!! of course I may be biased, but I do not like the look of WH, it is more of a city atmosphere with the high rise condos. As the other poster said, the landscaping at EI is much nicer!!!

Especially if you are staying in a pool home, EI is nicer. If you want a condo,
I would say go with WH.

We stayed in a villa in windsor hills in October 2006 and were very happy with the villa/location and wouldn't hesitate to return. There was still some construction work ongoing at the top end of the resort, but this didn't really impact on us. If you are going for a townhouse as I remember these were constructed first so will be the furthest away from any works, though these will most likely be finished soon anyway. In terms of travel times to parks, I wouldn't have thought that there was a significant difference between the two. In terms of facilities, landscaping etc we were very impressed with WH, but we haven't actually stayed at EI so can't give a direct comparison. Are the two locations the same price?? I'm sure either will give a good base.

Thanks for all the replies. As the townhouse in EI that we stayed in last year was really nice and in a good location, and is available on the dates we want, we have decided to go back there again.

Roll on April 19th!

Julie
