Hi. Could I please get some short-cut directions to Universal from Emerald Island? I'd like to avoid I-4. Thanks!

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I - 4 is the shortest way to US from EI. If you want to avoid it you could go in through Disney and along Buena Vista Dr (toward downtown Disney ) to Hotel Plaza Blvd and then Turkey Lake Rd which runs parallel to I - 4 up to US. It will take you longer than I - 4. But I don't know of another way to do it. Someone else might though.

I don't think there is a "short cut" to Universal. It is located just off the I4.

If you want to avoid the I4 there are several options (but they would all be long cuts), the most straightforward appears to be up international drive (however I would not recommend it:-) not a good route to drive for any length of time).

To be honest, I would stick with the I4. I have never had any major problems there (apart from DH getting caught speeding :-( ) If we have caught traffic on the way home, it is usually around Disney and then we take the Osceola Parkway exit into Disney and go through Disney to Sherbeth Road.

If someone does have a short cut I would love to know about it too.

From EI to US without I4

go over on Disney property and follow signs for DTD. After passing DTD and the hotel area you will get to a light at Apopka Vineland. Crossroads shopping center is across the street. Turn LEFT. Follow this about 5 miles till SAND LAKE ROAD. Make a RIGHT. Take this to TURKEY LAKE stoplight make a LEFT. Follow signs to US.

Approx time 40-45 minutes depending on traffic

If you decide to go I4 it's only about 20 min and really not a bad ride. You will get on 4 at exit 64 and get off on 74B I believe. There are lots of signs.

For 3 years running we have made several trips to USO from EI or neighboring WH and only once encountered a slight delay on I-4. We tended to travel up to USO between 8:00 and 9:00 am and returned between 4:00 and 6:00pm.

Hope that reassures you a little!

Hi

We've used the I4 from disney property for the past 6 years, and from the Formosa Gardens area for the past 3 years and never had a problem.

We usually find the 192 -> I4 can get delays through traffic, but on these occasions we have taken the Sherberth Rd shortcut from Formosa Gardens to Disney, and then got on the I4 from there.

Some of the recent issues on the 192 have been caused by the 192/I4 intersection road works, which seem to have been ongoing for ages now, but I am unsure when they are due for completion.

Anyway back to your question, as others have said use the I4 either from the 192, or via disney, it will still be much faster than the alternatives.
