Hi, :flower:

Just got back from a wonderful week at WDW , and here is the review of the offsite vacation home we rented.

It was called "Mickey's Emerald Retreat" at Emerald Island resort. I have very mixed feelings now about renting any more vacation homes because of my experience this past week.

It was a nice home and all, and the resort was nice , however I DO have some pet peeves about this place. For one, they had no sign up or any instructions in there welcoming book on how to turn on the spa. I had to call the day we arrived to have one of there maintenence guys come out and check on it because we thought something was broken, and he acted like I was stupid or something, and supposed to already know the inner workings of the pool and spa settings just because I had been in the house for over 4 minutes.
Another complaint was the fact over the week NO one came out and cleaned our pool!!! They just came and washed the filter out that was on the outside of our house, but they never came to clean, check the ph level, clorine level or whatnot.
Also, the beds were HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!! It was like sleeping on box springs! Those beds were worse than beds at a fleabag hotel. Ughhh..... :sad2:
Also, they didn't provide us with enough toiletries, JUST handsoap. I know I'm not staying at the Ritz, but even Holiday Inn provides customers with little shampoo bottles!!!
Another thing that REALLY surprised me was that the pool had NO PFD's( Life Saver devices) ! I thought that these were a requirement at vacation homes, but when I asked the office , they had no idea what I was talking about, and when I say that, they had NO idea what PFD's were! :confused3

Ughhh... I don't know if I ever want to stay at a vacation home again.... Do you guys think I should complain to the company?

Sorry you had such a bad experience. We have stayed in 3 different villas and have noticed a wide variance in the quality of bedding. Not just the mattress itself, but the sheets, pillows, etc.

None of the ones we stayed in supplied shampoo (we prefer certain brands anyway), but it does help to have dishwasher detergent and dishwashing soap. We used to bring a lot of stuff from home, but now we just shop at Publix for whatever we need.

Pool stuff, we did have the pool cleaner checking the pool at least once during a 7-10 day trips. We had a heater in November that was not set right and they came right out to adjust.

I am sorry you had such an unpleasant vacation. I own a home in EIR and would be very upset to know my guests were not pleased with my home. Generally the homes do not come with toiletries. You should call the home owner and let them know about the mattresses we do not always know when something is not quite up to par. I am not down there except twice a year so any complaints I would like to know of to make sure the future guests are made comfortable.
The pool should have a safety gate between the home and the pool. It is a state law. Many of the homes also provide safety buzzers for the sliders so you are made aware if some one is opening the slider.
Maybe vacation rental homes are not for you. There are many options on where to stay during your time in Disney. Your next vacation does not have to be this unpleasant thank goodness. For our family we would never do another hotel again. We stayed at a vacation home and have never stayed any where else since. We loved it so much we now have our own.
I think you should let the owner know. If nothing else it is not good for business. I am sure he will be greatful if you let him know about your stay.
