Emerald Asile/Emerald Choice changes!!!!

I just rebooked also and what a change for 10 days my original was for 289.82 for a intermidate and now I booked a full size for only $186.00. My confirmation states, proceed directly to the "Emerald Aisle" to choose your vehicle. I saved a total of $103.82!!!

I think National must be doing work on their website today. I went in this morning and reserved a mini-van. Was offered counter service or Emerald Reserve. I choice the Emerald Reserve selection and confirmed it. I just checked it now and Emerald Reserve was no longer offered.

I also checked this morning about the full size/intermediate issue and only Intermediate was allowed the Emerald Aisle Choice. I checked it now and Both intermediate and Full Size accepted Emerald Aisle as a selection.

Very strange happenings.... I bet National is in the middle of a site upgrade. What is really weird though, is that they are doing it during the day...

Ok, here is the weirdest.. I just want in and used the 'view reservation' feature and checked on the reservation for the Minivan that I made this morning. It is showing up as Emerald Aisle.. (The confirmations both said Emerald Reserve.) Now we all know that you can never reserve a minivan and get Emerald Aisle.. Something is up with National today and it is kind of scary.. LOL!

I had to change my time of pick up because USAIR change their schedule for the spring and my 6:30 am flight was gone they changed our flight and did not notify us. When I checked the booked us on an 8:15 flight uggghh. We will be getting in a hour and 1/2 later. When I did it is now telling me that I have counter service on my confirmation and charged me $ .65 more. So I booked another with intermidate car and cancel the full size one. Two cancellations in one day shall I go for 3?

Was there a price difference between the full and the intermediate on the EA? If not, go for the third cancellation and get the full size. If it goes through on EA, they will honor it regardless of what happens to the web site. Just an FYI, when you do cancel, make sure you call National and have them confirm that it is cancelled in their system. Sometimes the net and their system don't play nice.

I just went from $322 to $292 for 2 weeks, June 25th thru July 9th. I thought the $322 was a good price. Went with a full size, Emerald Aisle, AAA contract ID and used the $20 Entertainment coupon.

So far for me, Alamo is still doing the best (April 6 11:30 am - April 16 4 PM) by a far shot.
I put in the $20 Enter coupon code, and it shoots me back to counter..says it's an upgrade. I went over to AAA, and I can't find a contract number for them for National..just for Hertz. Where would I find that number (I'm a member). Thanks.

I just re-booked my ressie for 2 weeks in Dec. and save another $80! I was offered either the EA or Counter, not the Choice or Reserve.

The price was the same (for some reason I was charged an extra 86 cents). The only thing is when the confirmation e-mail came it stated counter service even though I had EA on the reservation form. So I am sticking with the intermediate. It is just DH and I so we really don't need a full size. I only order it the second time because it was the same price if by chance there is a full size in EA when we get there maybe or maybe not we will take it. I am used to a Malibu because that is what we have at home.

DMRick, go to mousesavers.com and there are many codes available there. I used the one for vacation code and it's $15 coupon. Saved me 10% off, plus the $15. I have a full size reserved for 2 weeks, plus 1 day for the total of $300 (all taxes and fees included). Out of my 4 reservations for this year, I have saved well over $400 now combined since I rebooked all of my ressies again last night.

When you change or modify an existing reservation on the net, it bumps you back to counter. The only way around this is to book a new reservation, if it is the same price book the new one and cancel the original one.

See above, and a Malibu via National is considered a full size car.
Not sure if this matters at this point.

I've got Alamo right now (the smallest car) for $203 with taxes included for the 11 days (since we are returning it so late). I'd rather have an imtermediate, but even using every coupon/code/EA on Mousesavers, I can't even come close, with any size car. Maybe it's just the time in April we're going. I"ll try again today.

DMRick, did you empty your cookies? I had to do this several times while making reservations. I used the vacation contract number and coupon (expires 5/31) that I found on mousesavers. It says anyone can use them, but you do have to print out the coupon and take with you. I checked mine again this morning and it's still at $300 total for a full size for 15 days. Good luck.

I originally booked national on Feb 4 for May 2-11 and got a rate of 305. I then used an AP contract id and got a price of 239.10. I just tried it again and got a new rate of 201.92 from May 2-11 for a full size emerald aisle!!!!!!!

I emptied my cookies, went on the other computer, etc. I'm usually good at getting the rate down..but it sticks with the $322 rate for a the 11 days I'm going. I'll stick with the Alamo small car for $203..thanks to those who tried to help.

I don't know if this will help but I used contract id 5042947 and coupon code 10008198. I got it from Mousesavers. I know you said you tried codes/coupons from mousesavers, but I didn't know if you saw this one. I reserved a full size for 10 days but it's in May. I've spent a good chunk of this morning trying out codes and contract ids (not fun). Good luck.

I know I said Malibu forgetting that it is considered a full size - actually I also had a Grand Am and a Grand Prix (forget which on they consider intermidate) and they also worked well for us. Thanks for your imput. I am going to stay with the last reservation.

It's because it's a mini-van. I don't think you can get either EA or EC with a mini-van.
