First and last with the KLM code I guess…first time using the Emerald Aisle

Anyway… for my October trip, I have an Emerald Aisle reservation using the KLM code and this will be my first time using the Emerald Aisle, so I have a few questions about the process: when you have an Emerald Aisle reservation, do you just go straight to the lot where the cars are parked or do you first have to go to a counter/kiosk?

Second, if I just go straight to the car, where/how do I add my wife as an additional driver? The Emerald Club still includes an additional driver for free. I’m concerned about calling and adding her ahead of time because there’s one posting on this board that said her KLM coded reservation was cancelled, when she called to add her Emerald Club number. I think my situation is different, as I won’t be changing any of the terms of my rental (additional driver is something already included in my reservation), but I worry that a call center rep might be too aggressive and cancel my reservation, even though s/he shouldn’t.

Any advice?

Thanks.

We have always gone straight to the garage and to the Emerald Aisle. There are some coupons that state you need to stop at the National desk, but I never use those. When driving out of the garage, a National agent in a booth will review your reservation (and sometimes ask to see license and/or credit card if either of those have expired and they need to verify a new one). This is when we ask to add DH's name to the reservation.

Just go to the car.

As you are leaving, you stop at an employee and they take your info. You can talk to them about adding her then. I will tell you, the MCO employees have NEVER, not once, taken even my driver's license. They just say I'm covered b/c I'm the spouse and it doesn't matter. That I don't need to be named on the contract.

A former employee who posts here says that is absolutely wrong and I have to be on that contract, but I have asked to be put on there many times, and never once have they done it.

Thanks for the help.

I'm a bit of a receipt freak.....I wouldn't be comfortable letting non listed drivers operate the car.

I'm familiar with the spouse is assumed thing, but I've been lead to believe that Florida law does not require a spouse to be included. That's one of the reasons I've never used dollar..they try to zap spouses with additional driver fees.
