Emerald Aisle/Emerald Reserve Dual Ressies?

Reading through some of the threads about National rentals, it appears that some people may hold more than one ressie for the same time period. (ie, one EA ressie for a low rate to see what is on the EA upon arrival & one Emerald Reserve ressie for a mini-van, etc.). How does this work?

Right now I have a mini-van reserved via ER because we will be using a ECV at WDW & having the larger vehicle makes it much easier.

Is it possible for me to have a concurrent EA ressie & if a mini-van or SUV is on the EA, then cancel the mini-van?

Does that make sense? & has anyone successfully done that?

I held 2 reservations, one Aisle, and one reserve for awhile before our last trip. I cancelled one after deciding which way to go. I'm not sure if you could hold 2 up until the day of rental, but for a couple of weeks it works.

Be careful, they may charge you a fee if you don't use the mini-van reservation and don't give them 24 hours notice. The rules for cancelling larger vehicles are more strict (you probably could get away with not using the EA res). The chances of getting a van or large SUV on the aisle is slim. The most common SUV's I've seen on the aisle is an Aztec or Jeep Liberty. I'm not sure you could get an ECV in there.

Thanks - that's what I needed to know. I will stick with my mini-van ressie - I just wanted see if I understood what was being referred to in a few posts. Sounds like the safe way to go is to keep the Emerald Reserve ressie.
