I would give it a try for 3 months and see how you like it, OP. $12.50 (with the promo code) for three months will at least get you a whole slew of new recipes to try, and it's incredibly easy to cancel. They have awesome customer service. And you can switch menu plans once each billing period, so during that three months you can try two separate plans, if you want.
We saved a ton of money, but that was primarily because we buy almost everything store brand. eMealz is good, though, for helping you find shortcuts and other little tricks. For instance, Roma tomatoes are almost always cheaper for some reason than other tomatoes. You can also buy a rotisserie chicken at the deli, pre-cooked, and pull it all off the bone for use in recipes for cheaper than buying chicken breasts, and you don't have to cook it or deal with icky raw chicken packaging.
And if you can get on a store meal plan, they work with what's on special at that store that week, so that should help you save.
