Embossing powder

I just broke down and got a Versamark pad and some linen white powder - of course I don't have a heat tool so I can't do anything! Hoping to get it with a GC after Christmas!


What's the neatest thing you've done with your embossing powder?

The stupidest thing was try to use a hairdryer instead of a heat tool I have tried putting the images on the warming rack above a toaster, but it didn't really work very well I've not done anything really cool yet but I'd like to try using the embossing as a resist (inking over the embossed image and wiping it to leave white on colour)

I picked a heat gun up last year at Harbor Freight. They have them on sale all the time for $5.99-7.99. It has two settings and the lower heat setting i plenty hot enough for embossing powder.

What's the neatest thing you've done with your embossing powder?

LOVE embossing powder. For a while I was getting really experimental with it. My favorite thing that I purchased to go with it was an embossing ink pen, which allows me to write or draw whatever I want and then I can emboss it. One time I used that to draw the outlines of some chipboard letters on a page. Then I scribbled randomly along the edges of those outlines so it looked like the letters were the blank spaces in a bunch of scribbles. Then I used the embossing powder on all of it (I think I used a metallic copper color). It turned out so cool. I also love to put layer after layer of UTEE (ultra thick embossing enamel) onto paper flowers and it gives them this great, glassy texture.

So excited I got a heating tool the other day!! I got a neat Snowman scene embossing folder and I embossed the snowman in the scene - so cute!!
