Has anyone stayed at the Embassy Suites near the DTD entrance? We usually stay at the DoubleTree in DTD, but thought we would check out the Embassy Suites... and wanted to get some reviews.

Thanks!

We have stayed but only short weekend stays, so we never used the pool etc. We did eat the breakfast and it's the traditional good breakfast you would expect. Suites were fine, decorated as expected, granite counters etc. We have also stayed at DTD Doubletree several times and the decor in the suite is very comparable to there. The atrium has palm trees and was very tropical with a gazebo in the middle. It's not really at the DTD entrance, you have to go north on 535, turn right on Palm Parkway, travel to Lake Dr and turn again. I would have said I would def stay there again but since the new one has been built I would opt for that.

Now if you are willing to drive just a few more minutes, in May we stayed at the brand new Embassy Suites Lake Buena Vista South. It is straight down 535. We were there for 9 days and can't wait to stay again. The breakfast was awesome, chefs very fast and they had some extra items we hadn't had before. The managers reception had a few items also added. The suites were stunning, seemed bigger than others and more storage than I knew what to do with. The pool was larger than other Embassy we stayed at with a large hot tub and outdoor bar, upscale seating and the lobby was beautiful with a very nice table service that was reasonable. The staff and service was some of the best we have ever had. My DH travels regularly and had just moved from the Ritz Carlton to there with us and agreed that the service was excellent. It was worth the few minutes more we drove. Actually going to Disney Parks was easier from there because we didn't have to go through DTD - we went straight in via World Center Drive.

Do you remember about how long of a drive it was to the different Disney parks? All of the hotels are supposedly "3 miles from Disney" so I wanted to get a more accurate comparison. I love Embassy Suites and the prices for this one are very reasonable.

We were taking about 10-13 minutes to get from hotel to parking lot toll booths. We went 535 to World Drive and it was very easy, and glad to avoid DTD!

Thanks. Except now you made my onsite vs. offsite decision even harder! :) I love Embassy Suites' breakfast in the morning, I love their suite rooms, which may be perfect for us because it allows us to keep an eye on our girls while still having a separate space if they go to bed earlier, and we could have the room cleaned each day. And their AAA rates were even cheaper than the Wyndham Bonnet Creek quotes I got. This is going to be really tough to decide.

My son, grandson and I stayed at Embassy Lake Buena vista over the summer. We love the hotel because of the breakfast and the 2 hour happy hour. Not top notch liquor but the mixed drinks and beer are ok. He is in the army and he had a week leave during the 4th of July so we wanted to spend time together. the happy hour gave us time to chat without the rushing around at the parks.
I got a great price from Hotels.com $83 a night. With Bfst for 3 and free drinks I figured they paid me about $10 a night to stay there.
the rooms are old looking, the bed was comfortable and the linens clean but I wouldn't walk barefoot on the rugs. Couch was pretty ugly, they need to get washable covers like surefit, I don't even like to sit on them they look so grubby.
It is close to the park, not walking distance, but a short drive. I think they have a shuttle but I always have a car so I can't be sure.
the pool is nice, and they have plenty of towels on carts nearby. It is indoor/outdoor so when it started to rain everyone came inside and still enjoyed the pool.
I have never stayed at the newer Embassy Suites but I will check it out for next stay.

Hmmm... now that does make it more difficult to decide. The rooms did look much nicer.

Another thought another thread reminded me is with the construction started at DTD and lack of parking they say traffic is terrible. If driving through there from hotel to parks...that drive could be much longer. I'm going next week and just changed from a hotel by DTD to the ES LBV South.
