Prior to our 7 day eastern cruise(Mar.8), our family arrived in Orlando late on the Thursday night (from Toronto). That evening, we stayed at the Embassy Suites Hotel which is a 5 minute or less shuttle ride.
The hotel is beautiful, clean, and the buffet brunch was just what we needed before we left for Cocoa Beach Friday morning.
It was also less expensive than staying at the Hyatt at the airport.
We took a shuttle back to the airport Fri. morning and got another shuttle from there for Hertz rentals. HUUUUGGGE car lot.
We drove Friday to our Cocoa beach hotel, Cocoa Beach Oceanside Inn. Some wanted me to post my thoughts on this hotel when I returned.
The rooms are clean and ours looked over the ocean. Beautiful view! It also had a balcony and we were right on the beach.
Our room's decor was slightly dated(1980's?) but because is was well kept and clean, I decided to stay. The lobby is okay but I was not really impressed...1970ish. The pool is fine.
This hotel would not normally be my first choice, but for one night prior to cruising, it was good...I usually stay at the Marriott and almost went to the Marriott Courtyard (or was it Residence?) down the street while I was waiting for my room (not ready even though I asked for early check-in).
If you want ocean front with balcony with absolutely no obstruction, this is the hotel you want.
The continental breakfast was fine in the morning just off the lobby and sustained us until we got to the ship and had lunch at Topsiders.
If you have 4 or 5 star tastes(like me) you may not want to stay here because of the dated rooms (if this a problem for you).
Otherwise, you'll like it. It's also next the the pier which has 3 restaurants.
Hertz was just down the street and they shuttled us to the Magic. Everything went quite smoothly for us, especially since we have a physically challenged child. The less hassle, the better and this vacation was very good!!!
