We are staying at the Embassy Inn South. I have a some questions and was wondering if there are a few people who have stayed here. That could answer them regarding the reviews I read online.

There was a lot of talk about it getting really congested at breakfast time and the hotel running out of food and places to sit. Could anyone tell me what time it seemed to be the most busy? For instance did you notice a majority of people right at 6:30 or did you wake up at 8am and it was crazy down there? Just trying to get an idea.

The shuttles were also talked about and how they waited 20 - 30 minutes to get the shuttle at the hotel to get to the park. Is this something anyone else experienced also and was there any way to avoid it? Or was it always this way?

I'm trying to figure out what time to get up my 5 girls and beat the crowds or at least navigate them with ease inside the hotel. They do better if I can prepare them for what's ahead.

A little info for anyone who may have advice for us. The park won't open until 9 or 10am. I have 5 girls 11, 8, 7, 5, and 1. And I will have a double stroller to get on the shuttle.

One last thing! We will be going to the parks for four days and there are 6 of us that would need to pay for the shuttle. Does any one know if they offer a discount to buying multiple days all at once for the 6 of us? I am finalizing my budgets for DL because we go next month! :cool1:

My wife and I and two children have stayed there twice. I think the pros outweigh the cons. In your case of 5 children this is a very good option for you. Breakfast does get crowded, so the earlier you go the better. You can also take the trays back up to the room and eat there if there are too many people in the breakfast area.

You can check park hours on the DL website, The park opens at 8 AM during Spring Break and Summer.

The line for the ART can be long, so again the earlier you take it the better. (Probably before 8 AM). I beleive there is a $1 discount for children under 10. A better option for you might be to squeeze the 6 of you into a cab and pay $10 each way (about the same or perhaps less than what you will pay for ART but without the lines.

The hotel also has a comlimentary happy our which my wife and I took advantage of. The rooms are quite nice and good sized. I think it is an excellent value. You might want to check expedia for pricing. I have no experience with hotwire or priceline, so maybe others could chime in on whether or not it is available at a better price through either of those services.

We just got back. We stayed there last week for the second time. We go to breakfast around 7:30 any later and it is busy. They put more food out until breakfast ends at 9:30. They no longer use ART. They use PCA now and it saved us $5 over the 3 day from what we paid back in July. $4 for adults and $1 for kids. So $13 per day for the 4 of us for shuttle passes per day. They don't have more than 1 day passes so you just get a new one every day but it is still cheaper than ART was. The shuttle runs every 15 mins or so and seemed to be bigger than the ART shuttles were. The reception time 5:30 to 7:30 they have alcohol beverages, juice, soda, $2.50 big pieces of pizza, popcorn, chex mix.

I love the Embassy Suites. It can get crowded for breakfast. Everytime that I have stayed there, I have gotten my Park Hoppers from AAA which allows for free parking in the parks. This is much nicer than having to wait for the shuttle in my opinion. Of course that might not be an option for you.

Check getawaytoday.com for ART pass discounts.
I called Embassy earlier and there is no ART stop anymore just the PCA that Emilym27 is talking about and the lady at the desk said there is no discount for buying more then one day. :headache: Oh well!

I was thinking by 7:30 that's when they eat on a school day and I figured we would just wake up like a normal school day get ready, eat breakfast and be at the park for the rope drop. Thanks for the dinner info that's interesting!
Was the hotel staff friendly?

Yeah not an option this year we're flying. But I am already thinking about my next trip so that is an option next time! ;)
Thank you all for your help!:goodvibes

Yes very friendly. Housekeeping and the manager called our room to make sure we were happy with our stay and to let them know if we needed anything.

We stayed there in summer 2009 and loved it. You can see my review with pics by clicking on the link in my sig. We always got down to breakfast the moment it opened. There were no lines and lots of tables at that time. We had to eat as soon as possible in order to get to the parks before park opening at 8am. We drove over to DLR every morning instead of using the bus.

I did read your reviews and found it very helpful! The pictures were awesome! Thank you!

I stayed there with my parents and two children in July 2010. We breakfasted pretty early most of the time, and it was never super crowded. The food was good and we loved the waterfall and stream running through the lobby. The room was good, but honestly we weren't there much so I don't recall a lot about it other than that we were comfortable.
