I just read the thread about embarrassing moments and telling the truth and I got a laugh out of some of the posts, which was really needed today, so here is a question for you all. What is either an embarrassing/hilarious moment that happened to you or to someone else that you know or something that you just witnessed?

I believe a big hearty "horse laugh" is good for the body, mind, and soul and I just got mine for the day. My ds loves to play "imaginary football" with himself and a football, and I was sitting here at the computer and he was in the dining room playing and I see him run down the length of the dining room for a "pass" and then I hear this huge WHUMP (which struck me as funny in the first place because I was reading the embarrassing thread at the time) and so I am expecting crying to start momentarily. And then he says in this matter of fact voice, "Well that is it! No more socks on the kitchen floor. It is TOOO slippery." I just laughed my head off but told him it was because of something I had been reading on the computer. I didn't want to hurt his feelings or make him start being silly.

Oh, I have one that was really funny at the time because it didn't happen to me... I was with my sister and we were on campus at the University of Michigan and we saw the bus coming that we wanted to catch. So, rather than go the long way down the hill that we were at the top of, we decided to just go in a straight line down the hill. We didn't realize until we were about halfway down the hill that it was far steeper than it had appeared, but we were too far to turn back and the bus was coming... So, my sister is having trouble keeping her footing and says to me, "Oh, watch me biff it right in front of the busload of people." And no sooner were the words out of her mouth than she started skidding and fell all the way to the bottom of the hill, RIGHT in full view of the bus and it's occupants!! Then she had to drag her dusty and humiliated self ONTO the same bus full of people who had just witnessed her graceful descent down the hill! Oh, I thought I would die laughing that day.......

Ok...here's one, but it is not my MOST embarassing because I still cringe thinking about a few! Back in high school this guy who had a crush on me (who I wasn't interested in) stopped by our house out of the blue one day. We had all glass doors in the front. As I was walking towards the living room, I saw him and dove behind the couch so he wouldn't see me, hoping he'd go away. Well, about the same time he was standing there, my mom got home and let him in! I was so embarrased when I had to get up from behind the couch!

When my husband and I were stationed in Germany, we used to spend time browsing the CD store. One day we were side by side looking at CD's. Some time had passed. I was engrossed in looking at CDs, when I suddenly reached over and grabbed me a chunk o' hubby butt. Imagine my surprise when I looked up a second later, and saw hubby across the store looking at VCRs. I quickly apologized to the poor man whose rump I tweaked and made a hasty exit. Needless to say, that put the whole PDA thing in perspective and i never goosed hubby in public again.

That reminds me of the time that I had first started dating DH and we went to look at the stars with his friend who is tall. I went to the car when DH was looking through the telescope and I came back and started to put my arm around his waist and felt tall guy rear end!!! I jumped back hoping he did not notice and was mortified. I told DH later what happened and his friend has never said anything to either of us about it so we joke all the time about how tall guy must think I was hitting on him!

after hanging out I took a girl that I was thinking about dating to Waffle House and we had something to eat. When it was time to pay, I pulled out my credit card. Surprise! Waffle House doesn't take credit cards. I tried to pay with cash, but I was $.37 short. Not only that, I didn't leave a tip.

I was really embarrased. Luckily, the manager trusted me and said to bring it in later.

Ok, time to fess up. But I have SO many!!! I'm a walking accident. The one that haunts me TO THIS DAY is as follows:

It was Christmas time and my mother had been chosen to go up to the front of the church before Mass started to read a prayer and light one of the Advent Candles. At the LAST moment, she chickens out and asks me to take her place. I'm about 14 at the time and talk my then 10 year old sister into walking up there with me. Read the passage without a hitch and am SO proud of myself. Walked off the altar, in the MIDDLE of the main aisle of the church, and promptly FELL FLAT ON MY FACE!!! I was in heels (of COURSE!) and a DRESS!! The floor was a little slippery and WHOMP--There I was! My sister, brave soul that she is, RAN to another part of the church, leaving me there in all my glory. All I could think was "what hole can I crawl in????" I literally SLUNK to the nearest pew and was too humiliated to look at anyone. Of course there were gasps and then some laughter reverberating throughout the chuch. THANKS MOM!!!!:faint:

I can think of a few places in Ann Arbor that this might have happened. The 3 most likely possibilities are either on North Campus somewhere, near the Med Center, or on State near the corner of Hill ... am I anywhere close to correct?

ok this isnt my most embarrassing.b.ut its pretty bad...
my mom, brother, friend and her mother , and i were at TGI Fridays...my friend was upset about someting when we were walking out..she randomly started crying..i turned to see if she was ok and walked smack into a sign..one of those metal ones that hurt..i tried to keep walking and play it off, but my bro laughed soo loud about it!

I always seem to be falling over. When I was in high school all the football players hung out on the steps of the entrance to the main building. (Don't ask me why - they were even called the jock steps ) One morning before school I was walking up to the building and there were about 15 guys there. Two dogs came chasing across the front lawn (again, why? that was the only time I ever saw dogs on campus). I backed up so the first one wouldn't hit me and got knocked flat on my rear by the second one. And, yes, I was wearing a dress. Not a single guy moved to help me up or get my books. Funny thing was they all tried to pretend they hadn't seen me. I had to walk right past them - by that time giggling like an idiot. They probably thought I was crying. Oh, the humiliation!

On my way home from school, I was running for the train and just as I reached the platform (I was on 50th street catching the C train for the folks in NYC) I fell into a split and it felt like it was happening in slow motion:faint: . It was embarassing because the whole car was filled with kids from my school and they were all dying. I got on the train anyway though.

DD28 was then about 4.5 years old and we had just joined a new church where she would be starting kindergarten shortly. At Mass one Sunday, she observed the congregation going to the front of the church to receive Communion. She asked me "Mommy, where are all those people going?" And I whispered "They're going to get Jesus" She rather loudly replied "CHEESE, they're going to get CHEESE!!!!" I just about wanted to disappear, but everyone smiled. Actually, I find this to be a rather pleasant memory!!!!!

Serena, are you dissing my embarassing moment/pleasant memory, cuz if you are that's not very nice (if not, sorry)?????

Here's a good one courtesy of my DS. On Easter this year, we were invited to my sister's fiancee's home. His entire family, our entire family and his brother's wife's family were all there. They were roasting a lamb, and when we got out of the car, DS walked over and said to me, "What is that? A dog?!"!!!!!!!!
The funny thing is that I was thinking the exact same thing!! It still had the head and teeth and eyes on it, it was kind of dog looking. Thankfully, the family has a good sense of humor and laughed!!

Absolutely not Fran. I seriously had just had my own embarrassing moment. I'm sorry for not responding sooner.
