At 8.31pm I read an email from Expedia saying to urgently contact them re changes to my Florida flights in August with audited Airlines. Of course they closed at 8.30pm and now I'm sitting here worried.

I have logged into Expedia and the first leg of the flight on the 12th August from Heathrow to Houston has disappeared and it just shoes the second leg from Houston to Orlando and the full return journey.

I have logged into United and the both legs if both the outbound and incoming flight are showing as originally booked.

The Expedia email says "United Airlines have made changes to your itinery and it's important we speak to you to you as soon as possible in order to review the changes from the carrier so that we can discuss alternatives"

I am worried because we are unlikely to get school holiday flights for the price we paid a few months ago.

Thanks

Andrea

Originally I had booked flights with Opodo flying with BA. I received a similar e-mail from Opodo and when I checked our flights with BA one of our fights had been cancelled. We were offered an alternative, but cancelled the booking with no charge, as we didn't want the alternative!

How different was the flight you were offered to your original flight?

I've checked all of the individuallegs of my flights and they are all still showing as available to book.

I am hoping it's because the we arrive at Houston at 17.50 and our flight leaves for MCO at 18.55, maybe the connection time is too short. So I've got my fingers crossed that they will put us on an earlier flight from Heathrow to Houston to leave a longer connection time.

Do you think this could be the reason?

Thanks Andrea

Originally we were going to fly back Manchester via Heathrow. This was then changed to flying into Heathrow, and then flying out of Gatwick to Manchester. We really didn't want to have to trail from Heathrow to Gatwick after being on the flight for several hours!

Thinking about it we booked a flight to San Francisco with Expedia and we also got an e-mail and it was because the time of our flight had changed. So i think that is probably what it will be.

United did the same thing we me last week! I booked our flights 14/12/12 flying;

Man - EWR 27/04/13 09.25
EWR - MCO 01/05/13 10.00
MCO-IAD-MAN 09/05/13 13.45

They swapped my EWR-MCO flight from 10.00 to 11.15 so I wasn't bothered and just accepted the changes.

I booked directly with United though so they'd showed me the changes and asked me to confirm I accepted them on my account.

So United should already have offered you an alternative via Expedia they are just waiting to speak to you first :)

They have just changed something to your flight

United did the same to us last year (2012 lol, it's last year already :) ) when they cancelled our CDG-EWR flight, in fact they changed the flight number. Just a phone call and we were rebooked on a flight with the same times (give or take 5 minutes) but under another flight number.

US Airways did that to us in june for our october trip. They cancelled our CDG-CLT flight and rebooked us on a CDG-PHL instead

They will rebook you on a flight that is the closest match to the flight you booked (maybe except the stopover airport might change)
Remember that, as long as it's the airline that changes your flight, you can change your reservation (choose another flight, including connecting flights) free of charge, even if your ticket is non-refundable, non-changeable

they just need you to confirm that you agree to whatever itinerary change they offer you

Well I called up this morning at exactly 8am and I was placed in a queue and after 10 minutes of waiting I was cut off.

I called back and the agent wasn't sure what the problem was so called the airline and it turned out our connection time was now only 1 hour 5 minutes so we have been placed on a flight leaving LHR 2 hours earlier which will give us 3 hours to make our connection, which is fine with us!

So all is well and I no longer have to worry about a short connection and a long customs queue etc.

Fingers crossed that we don't have any other changes, unless they get us there earlier!!

Glad you got it sorted.
Can be a pain when they change their schedules, last August Delta cancelled our route back via NYC, we had 1 booking direct with Delta that took 2 minutes to sort, another booking(relatives) via eBookers that took about 5 days to sort, agents can just add to the hassle sometimes.

Pleased you got it sorted.

We were on the same flight but a different date and I hadn't received any e-mail so I logged onto manage my booking on United and the flight change was showing there. They were expecting us to manage with a 1hr 5 mins stop over! I gave them a call and we have changed ours to the 9:30 am flight leaving London and we have a 2 hour stopover in Houston with our flight now arriving into Orlando at 7:05 pm.

So thank you for posting this or I wouldn't have even known ours had changed.

We are booked with United too and have had several e-mails about changes to our flights - got worked up until I realised it was a time change of just 2 minutes!
