Any suggestions ??
My DD is 12 and wants to join the boards here so we want to set her up an email
I tried hotmail and she got a rather NASTY spam email so we won't be using that
any suggestions for "safe emails"

thanks

For the DIS I use Yahoo and anything they think could be spam goes to a bulk folder, so you don't ever have to see it you can just delete it.

Or what about through your internet provider, I know we can have more than one email address not sure if they charge for more than one though.

You need an invite for that one don't you??

Oops - yep, you do! I meant to say I have plenty of invites if you want one. Just PM me your name and an email address to send it to

I use gmail and it works fine for me. Never see spam. Believe it or not the spam I am getting also is nothing bad, which is suprising seeing cox i got bad crap. I have invites also.

I like gmail also. It's tidy, clean and the spam gets automatically sent to the spam folder and deleted every 30 days automatically.

If anyone needs a gmail invite, just let me know. I've got a bunch of them.

Another vote for gmail. I can't believe how effective it is for spam! Definitely kid friendly.

I think you could get an invite anywhere at this point. I've got 150 myself, so add me to the list of people who have them.

DD's Ilse and Shawny got their own screen name on our AOL account, kids AOL, and we used the parental control and so far for the last 4 years, no spam, no problems, the filters are great, we don't even see the spam.

My dd uses yahoo also. She seems to like it pretty well. Hotmail is HORRIBLE for bad emails.

I have a Yahoo email and I never get spam.

We all have accounts through our internet provider (5 of them) and they have a spam blocker plus McAfee has a spam blocker as one of the security blocks so we use both...in 3 years none of us has ever gotten a spam e-mail.

Hotmail is a free option. You can set your controls to filter out the spam. I would also check with your internet provider and see if you can have more then one email account. We can have up to 7 different accounts with our ISP so everyone in our family has their own email address.

Who's your ISP? We have Comcast and are allowed 3 e-mail accounts...

Our ISP is just a regional one.
