Email etiquette

I have one employee who doesn't use punctuation, capitalization, or even whole sentences. She breaks everything up with dashes. It's very difficult to understand what she is saying or when she has a question.

When I corrected her, she started crying, saying that she used to win all sorts of writing competitions! I'm thinking 'in what country?' And 'competition must have been slim!'

Not an email but I had an employee who would write his formal report like that! Dude never met a "period" in his entire life! Drove me nuts. I had to ask him if they taught him to write like that in college!

But back on topic...

People who feel the need to cc: half the company on every email. Is it a CYA thing, look at me...what ever the reason it's annoying.

Yes, we have auto reply. Problem is a lot of folks e-mail their requests, and immediately log off before the auto reply hits.
But presumably at some point they log in again, receive the reply and realize the recipient is out of the office.

As far as texting shorter messages for efficiency, not all companies and organizations permit that due to archiving and record keeping.

Vague subject lines are very annoying to me, particularly when I have to go back through the mailbox looking for info.

Question. Judge Smith hearing. Phone message. All fairly useless.

At some point they will.....but as was the case yesterday, they made an angry call first wanted to know why something hadn't happened.

There are times to "over send", which your example is one. But there are others when over sending is a bad thing.
I biggest issue we have had is people have themselves added to a group they are not a part of because there are times that they may need to know about things in that group. You look at some of our groups, and the list of employees in them is almost identical, with a half dozen folks not in that classification added.
