Elsa gift/surprise in room for 6-year-old?

Hi,

We are excited (and nervous!) about our first trip to Disney in November.

To make the fun begin asap, we are hoping to have an Elsa treat (not food) for our daughter to open when she initially arrives at the room. Our initial thought was a necklace from Elsa, but we haven't been able to find such.

We understand that the Disney Florist has options (eg, "Anna's and Elsa's Warm Welcome"), but they seem pricey.

Did you do something similar for your little one?

I do not know what level of quality gift you are looking for, but I did see a cute boxed set with a frozen necklace at wal-mart the other day. It was less than $10. I also think i saw something with anna or elsa at Sears in the $30 range.

I am giving both of my kids (4 and 6) a lanyard with some pins for trading as a surprise gift.

Depends on your price range. On the high end, you can get the fancy nightgown (http://www.disneystore.com/elsa-nightgown-for-girls/mp/1377505/1000305/). On the lower end, you can pick up Frozen jewelry and stuff almost anywhere for a very reasonable price. There are also small packages of Frozen jelly beans available in a number of grocery stores, candy stores, and knick knack stores. Heck, there is even a Frozen board game out now! My five year old got the Animators' Collection Elsa playset for her birthday and really likes it. Depending on your travel plans, it makes a nice toy in the car or plane on the way home as well.

I know that this approach doesn't provide the immediate Wow factor, but we've done this many times over the years. I used to pack some glitter or sparkly stuff and a gift or two that would be left on the table when the kids went to sleep ...... Kinda like the tooth fairy visited, except we would say it was Tinkerbell. In your case, you could use snowflake cutouts and put out accompanying gifts. This could even be done during the day when the kids are at the pool or something and just say "Looks like we just missed Elsa, but she left something for you!" Even when my girls got old enough to "know better" we still did this, as it is now tradition. Our next family trip is in December and I just bought a miniature Disney tree and am buying gift cards for everyone to put under the tree for "Santa Mickey's" visit! It is certainly cheaper than using Disney Florist and timing is up to you versus running the risk of the surprise being ruined by an outside factor.

Another option would be a Frozen Book. This could serve for autographs if you are meeting the ladies also. Would be a perfect time in with the PJs.

When we took my stepsons on their first trip back in 2005, I packed their suitcases for them and packed them full of Disney goodies - pal Mickey (remember him!), personalized shirts, a lanyard and starter pin set, etc.). I also made special luggage tags for them. When we arrived in the room and they opened their suitcases, all of their surprises were inside for them to discover. It was so fun to see the expression on their faces as they discovered each new thing - it was like Christmas morning!

My son just celebrated his birthday at WDW and I planned on decorating his room to the nines! I found a BUNCH of stuff at the dollar tree, funny enough, and it's all disney trademarked stuff. Including disney PEZ and little disney toys. They also have a celebration isle where you can buy signs and banners for all different occasions! I taped signs to the door, set up a bucket filled with his surprises inside, and left it on the table. I did all of this when he went to the pool with my husband and I said I was going to unpack. After I had everything set up and decorated I went down to the pool and met them. I told my son (4 years old) that mickey had stopped by looking for him and left a present for him! Well you can imagine his excitement when we got to our room and he saw the door decorated, and then went inside and saw that he had a bucket of presents! His was so pumped!

I am inspired to bring along some 6" teal and white foam snowflakes (craft shop) and have my husband sprinkle them around the room before my daughter enters the room.

another great first day surprise is an autograph book and pins for trading. I was totally shocked at my very shy daughter wanting to trade pins-she was only 4 at the time but got right into it. gave her something to talk to people about. Same with the autograph book it gave her something to 'do' with the characters, without it she was afraid of them. you could have Elsa write a special note welcoming her and explaining whatever you chose to leave. such a nice idea!
