Ellen's Stardust diner

We'll be in Times Square for 3hrs on friday afternoon. Not sure where we will be dropped off. If the diner right there? Do they take ressies? Will we have to wait forever on a friday? (Probably break week for many..)

We ate there once on a whim, and we didn't have to wait very long. This was the Saturday after Black Friday in 2007, I think. It wasn't as fun as I'd hoped, but the food was actually pretty good. I'd go again if I was with someone who wanted to go.

We've had no problem walking up for an early dinner. It's a fun time and the food was decent Ellen's is a couple of blocks up from Times Square...right near Hersheys (which is hard to miss!)

But..... We are going to NY for the first time before going to WDW in September and I had just yesterday read about Ellen's Stardust diner and I can't wait to go there, it is on our must do list for a meal. It looks and sounds like fun!

Unfortunately alot of the places that I have found to be better are a tad bit of a hike from Times square..In and around Times Square :Ellens is ok-decent, Virgils is good, and we love Ruby Foos and Carmines but alot of those places require ressies or are hard to do walk ins for.Ellens is probably your best bet, and people should try it at least once.

Just wanted to add that at least NYC schools are not on spring break this coming week...they already had their break a few weeks ago!

For an 11 year old girl? yes I'd recommend it. In high school we went here for lunch on theater trips. It's fun for younger kids...I can see why adults wouldn't enjoy it as much.
It's a more fun atmosphere than Carmines like the other poster suggested...

We like Ellen's Stardust diner they had good milkshakes too! The servers were singing and dancing and we didn't wait long.

Across the street is Mars 2112 http://www.mars2112.com/ You have to walk downstairs to go into the restaurant. We ate here too! Suppose to be like your on Mars. The burgers we had were great and the kids had chicken fingers. We were on a tour. You might want to see if you need a reservation but I think you'd be fine on a Friday. The kids thought it was neat. Have fun!

We went for breakfast in March. There was quite a line for dinner on Saturday, but it appeared to move. We ate there on Sunday morning with no wait. The breakfast food was only okay. It was a fun place to go, but I wouldn't go back.

We tried Mars 2112 and we thought it was pretty lackluster. The food wasn't great and the service was horrible....my son did like the theming though
