I have been to disney many many times but have never ridden Ellen's Energy adventure in Epcot and i was just wondering what exactly this is and if someone could tell me a little bit about it :cool1:

It tells the story of the creation of fossil fuels through a Jeaopardy parody with Ellen and Bill Nye(the Science guy) as the host. You watch a quick movie then enter giant cars and travel through time- mostly dinosaur time(big loud animatronic dinos) It is a longer ride(I think about 20+minutes) My kids enjoyed it but it is not on our every trip must do list.

It's all about energy and where we get it and how it got here (i.e. fossil fuels). The whole show is about 45 minutes long; starts with a pre-show starring Ellen, then you go in the theater and sit down. After a bit the theater seats split up and become your ride through the past - mostly prehistoric and this is the part where you will see the dinosaurs. Then it's back to the theater for the finale. Jamie Lee Curtis is also in this briefly as Ellen's know-it-all roommate who is winning Jeopardy hands down.
If you like Ellen, it is a VERY funny show!

I think that it takes a total of 45 minutes from beginning to end with shows starting every 17 minutes. It starts out where you are in a standing room only pre-show area watching a little Jeopardy Spoof with Ellen, Bill Nye and Jamie Lee Curtis(oh and Einstein too :goodvibes) . All questions are about energy and Ellen doesn't know the answers to anything...cutting out a bunch Bill Nye takes Ellen through this sort of evergy adventure to teach her more about energy. You then walk into a large area and sit down/they show another pre-show about energy and then your seats begin to move forward and you travel through what looks like prehistoric times complete with Ellen audio-animatronic. Your vehicle comes to a stop in a large theater with a 360 degree screen and they show you a sort of small movie concerning energy. If you or your children do not enjoy sitting and watching alot of on- screen things you may want to reconsider riding. However, I like it and would recommend doing it at least once :)

Believe it or not, this is one of my favorite all time rides!! I just love it. The pre show is hilarious, and the ride itself is really interesting. The first time i rode it, i just could not believe what it was. I had no idea about it. It is a nice place to relax as well, and you might even learn something without knowing it. This is a must do for me!!

It's one of the longest attractions at WDW; I timed the whole thing once from the beginning of the doors opening for the preshow until we got of: nearly 40 minutes. It's a great "resting" ride.

The animatronic dinosaurs are actually tableau scenes from Fantasia. If you've seen the movie, you will recognize the scenes. The last rehab inserted an animatronic of EG, plus some voiceover into it, but it's still Fantasia's dinos. For the best close-up view of the animatronics, sit on the far right-hand side of any of the 3 cars; they all pull out in single file, and the largest dinosaurs are on the right as you pass through.

the only things i could add to what has already been posted.....

nice slow moving cars - not a wild ride, but can be loud. a great diversion to take a break, catch some AC and learn something to boot.

we hit the thing each time.

Basically it's really cool.

The story has already been mentioned. To give a visual...........

Think this: Sitting in a movie theatre, watching a movie, then the lights go out, the screen parts and the seats split away from one another (staying in big sections) and start moving forward and through the place where the screen was, and now you are moving through a dense rain forest where dinosaurs are all around you. Very very cool.

we did this ride for the first time last trip it was very cool. We had no idea what it was even about when we went in and after it started thought it was just a movie. When the seats started to move we were all surprised and dd got a little scared.

i love this ride (and not only because i love ellen, which i do!). so much better than the old energy ride - i remember being totally horrified of it when i was six. something about the smell of the dinosaurs really frightened me. but this ride is very funny, and a great chance to sit for a while :)

I think Ellen has actually gotten funnier over the years. When her update of this attraction came on line, I enjoyed her more than ever. It's pretty entertaining, and a unique experience in theme park attractions. Not one of those "must dos" on each trip, but we have fun when we do take the time :earsboy:

We love this one.. we didn't do it on our first family trip -but I did it on a solo trip THEN did it with the family and we all loved it. It's fun, somewhat more relaxing than other rides (longer and get a bit of a rest if your going "gungho" on the rest of the things there at WDW), educational for kids (all really), funny- and even my youngest who was scared at Snow White's ride did not get scared on this. :)

I think this attraction is under-rated. I'm not a huge Ellen fan, but find her funny here. With the exception of the opening film, the ride is well-executed and relaxing. If you're not careful you might actually learn something about energy while having a great time.

If you're in a hurry, sit in the boats on the left side; they leave the loading area first.

Ellen's so hilarious, she really makes the ride so entertaining and a lot of fun. I absolutely love this ride and it's my dad's favorite ride in Epcot. :)

I love this ride. It includes great effects and a great cast. :goodvibes
We took the UnDISCOVERed FW behind the scenes tour one year. The dinosaur room was one of the areas we toured. (In between the seating that moves through. I think there is an 8 minute gap is what we were told.)
Some of the smaller animatronics still move even when no guests are riding through. It takes more energy to shut them off and on than to just let them keep moving. (Such as the dragonflies.)
It so nice in there on a hot day, and I am really tired, I have a hard time not laying down on the seat for a quick nap! :teeth:

We were just talking about this ride the other day. It's a must on our trips. I can't believe this ride is 40 minutes long. We love it! :cool1:

I aggree, it is a very fun ride. We always use it as a chance to sit down for 40+ minutes and take a nice slow cool ride in a dark room. It re-junvnates you...smjj

:sad2: I think I'm the only person that does not like this ride. I found it slow and boring. I fell asleep during the ride part. Like I said, I'm the only person, so don't take my word for it!!!!

WE love it - the "pre-show" is the best part. If you miss it, "too bad, 'cuz you're LATE. You think about that next time!"
