Just saw a tweet that says Ellen isn't coming back to American Idol next year. I don't care either way, but I know there are a lot of people who didn't like her as a judge.

I liked her :). Without Simon and now also Ellen, I am even less likely to watch after this past mediocre season. Of course all that depends on who else comes on board.

I read something yesterday that they were going to replace all the judges.

The latest is that they are in serious talks with Jessica Simpson :crazy2:

I love Ellen but don't watch AI. I would have bet money she'd only do it for one year. I am over AI, didn't watch at all last season or the one before. I haven't even heard a thing about any of the contestants this year and heard the tour had to cancel dates. I think it's jumped the shark and Ellen wanted to get out while she could.

I loved Ellen on Idol. I thought she gave an honest opinion of how each of the performers. I can't imagine how demanding it is to have a full-time show and also a commitment to American Idol.

Ellen says: A couple months ago, I let FOX and the "American Idol" producers know that this didn't feel like the right fit for me. I told them I wouldn't leave them in a bind and that I would hold off on doing anything until they were able to figure out where they wanted to take the panel next. It was a difficult decision to make, but my work schedule became more than I bargained for. I also realized this season that while I love discovering, supporting and nurturing young talent, it was hard for me to judge people and sometimes hurt their feelings. I loved the experience working on "Idol" and I am very grateful for the year I had. I am a huge fan of the show and will continue to be.

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE it if they canned Randy....If I never have to hear yo yo yo dawg again in my lifetime I will be happy!!

I would love if they canned Kara  ... she gives me a :headache: ...

So with Simon and Ellen gone maybe they will start fresh with all new judges. If they make good choices I may be interested again.:)

I never wanted Ellen as a judge, but over the course of the season she did grow on me and I didn't mind her so much. Not surprised she doesn't want to do it another year though. When Bret Michaels was on the Early Show a couple weeks ago (or was it Regis & Kelly? I can't remember...) he talked about the possibility of being an AI judge. I think he would be a good choice.

Ellen was like a complete sell out on Idol. This year was a joke and not a funny one. She looked like she was very uncomfortable and she's way to real for that contrived show.

Idol is going straight down the tubes. What used to be my favorite show is now a waste of time. :sad2:

I like her, even on AI but it really didn't look that comfortable for her. I had a feeling she wouldn't stay on long.

Not a complete waste...remember how much fun we had on the Idol thread:lmao:

How did Ellen get out of it after only a year? I read that she signed a 5 year contract. Is that not true?

Good for Ellen. I have a friend trying out and that is the only way I'll be watching this next season. This year was a flop. I only liked Simon as a judge and while I like Ellen, I agree with her. She wasn't a good fit for what the show has become.

A report in our paper says that Jennifer Lopez is ready to sign as a judge-yuck.
