Ellen´s Energy updated?

I don't know if it really needs to be updated (how do you update extinct animals). I think that the addition of Ellen and Co. to the attraction a few years back made it a relaxing, funny and entertaining (cool) 20 minutes or so. The old one was relaxing but boring to the edge of death. On top of that it was one long egotistical advertisement for Exxon!

::yes::

I like it too! It's hard for me to imagine that it could be done much better with the current ride mechanism. Ellen, Bill Nye, Jamie Lee Curtis and Alex Trebek make for an entertaining program.

Another fan of the current UOE here. Its actually one of my kids(7&4) favorites, that theyve done over and over for the past few years.

Not only do I like the ride the way it is, Its a nice LONG ride with airconditioning!! A great way to get off your feet for awhile. And want to say its longer than 20 minutes ( seems like it anyway). Ellen just cracks me up. I love when she's in the helicopter ( you can see it at MGM on the backlot tour) and she's using the hairdryer. I just think its a great attraction. Plus, my then 2 year old DS ( he's three this trip) LOVES the Dinosaurs.

Just checked my Disney book.. and the ride is 45 minutes long. Thats a great way to take a break from a long day at Epcot! ::yes::

Ok - Call me a geek...

I am impressed with the design of the ride. To get to the point, it is impressive to me, that you walk into an "auditorium" and get seated, and before you know it the room splits into 9 cars that move thru the exhibit.

I agree with everyone, I love this ride the way it is. I remember the Pre-Ellen & Bill days and it was soooooooo boring. I fell asleep. I think it's education in a fun way, the jokes hold up even though I've seen it a dozen times. The only thing is... Bill Nye isn't as reconizable as he used to be, I don't believe his show is even on the air anymore. BUT his name is Bill Nye THE SCIENCE GUY, so I think everyone can figure out what he's all about even if they don't connect him with the TV show. Jamie Lee will always be popular, and even Jeopardy has renewed it's fame ever since they changed the rules and what's-his-name won all that money.
If I had to change something, maybe update the animatronics or add some new dinosaurs?

This is one of the rides I purposely haven't described to my BF. I've been on it several times (pre- and post-Ellen), so for me it's nothing new that the theater seats become vehicles, and that you see dinosaurs, etc.

I'm eager to see his reaction when it's a surprise, so I hope no one in the audience spoils it: "Ok now, little Bobby, hang on because the seats start to move in a minute!" ;)

This ride should be open in December, right?

Next to SE, this is my favorite cool off and take a break ride!

OKee dokee then "Geek" LOL......I happen to agree with ya, this ride is impressive. Supposedly it also runs on solar energy. Lots of interesting details to this ride.

The ONLY thing I'd change about it is the very END of the ending. When the dinosaur roars out of the blue.......they can cut that part out.
When my granddaughter went on this ride with me she absorbed so much cool information but she came out of the ride ANGRY and crying. She told me she wanted to write to whoever was in charge and tell them that she learned a lot BUT that everything she learned was scared out of her at the end by that dinosaur scream LOL
I don't think it's necessary to scare people/customers/guests at every single turn either.

I just wanted to add that in addition to it being much more entertaining, the music composed by Bruce Broughton also makes for a better attraction.

Man, what a flashback I just had....The pre-Ellen one was SOOOO boring...I remember feeling trapped in there! I hated so much that I left there never wanting to use petroleum products again...Ellen is much more entertaining!!!:p

No actually I don't know what you mean. But I would like you to explain it. I certainly don't hope you mean what I *THINK* you mean.

I loved this ride. It is one of my favs.

I hope they don't change it anytime soon- it's one of my favorite things at Epcot! I'll never forget the time that one of the Ellen audioanimatronics lost power during the ride, and collapsed from the waist up- we spent the rest of the day "mourning" poor Ellen :teeth:

I love Ellen in this. I cant even imagine anyone else doing it. I also love in the preshow, where she tells me she likes my hair! Its always so sweet of her!

another Ellen fan here! I was little the time I saw the pre-Ellen ride, so I dont even remember it, but me and DBf are big Ellen fans, especially after her stint as Dory so we just LOVED it. I thought the intro was very cute and funny and the whole set up is a great way to entertain and teach. I love when the cars start moving through the dinosaurs, wish there was more of that!
