Elizabeth Taylor has passed

May she RIP. A beautiful woman and one of the greats. I agree with everyone, there are few like her.

She had a lovely sense of humour too. I inadvertently saw her at a PA in the late 1980s for her White Diamonds perfume line in Toronto. She arrived late but was turned out in full makeup, jewels and so on, and her comment to the large crowd was, "Well, if I were thin and on time--what would you have to talk about?"

seriously? I didn't see this on the MSN home page.... I'll have to go back and look. how sad :sad2:

Awwwww :sad2: that is really sad news. I know her health had been pretty poor recently, but I thought she was improving. She and her generation defined what Hollywood was...she will be dearly missed and never replaced.

This thread title made me so sad. She was an icon just like Marilyn and Sinatra. Nothing like her before or ever again. Rest In Peace Liz. I hope Richard was there to meet you.
Smart, talented, gorgeous women who give of themselves and make such a ruckus are such a pleasure to watch. I remember seeing her when I was a little girl and being amazed at how beautiful she was. She was in the lobby of a hotel in California with a large entourage. She smiled at me. It seemed to me that everyone in that lobby was watching her; they probably were.

Yes, she is one of the last of the great Hollywood legends. Larger than life. She will be missed.

In her prime, she was a breathtaking beauty.

And a talented actress, winning 2 Oscars, for Butterfield 8 and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?

I didn't know she was born in London (to American parents).

I was sad to hear that news. RIP Elizabeth.

So very sorry to hear this. I didn't know she was that ill. She was one of my favorites.

wow, my son just emailed me about this. She did look really ill in her last picture.

RIP, I remember my Mom thinking she was the most beautiful woman alive. Her eyes were amazing. :sad1:

I agree, it's an end of an era. She did so much for others and she was a lovely woman

True Hollywood is going away.

Yes, she is one of the last of the great Hollywood legends. Larger than life. She will be missed.

Once Lauren Bacall is gone I can't think of any Hollywood stars that even come close to following in the footsteps of Elizabeth Taylor. Many are very talented, but none have that elegance, charm and dignity like the true Hollywood classic stars had. Even when they had affairs or drinking problems, they tried to keep it private, no like the "stars" today that love seeing their follies on the front page.

I'm really sad about Liz passing.:sad1:

Now there was a gal who really lived her life-bawdy,classy,stunning,and those wonderful jewels of hers!Larger than life, and someone who will be sorely missed.:sad1:

Makes me sad also, knowing that era or style, grace and beauty is slipping away. We still have her films, though, thankfully. RIP Liz.

I'm going to begin renting her movies so my DS and DD (early 20's) can appreciate her huge talent...GIANT, Butterfield 8, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf...To DS and DD she's a footnote as a friend of Michael Jackson and a supporter of AIDS. They really don't know her body of work. Who will ever forget Liz in Cleopatra :worship:That shot of her entering Rome on the golden sphynx still gives me chills and has to be one of the most breathtakingly beautiful scenes in movie history. Let's start a campaign to get some of those scenes on the Great Movie Ride in DHS:thumbsup2.....thanks for the memories
