Eliminate the Park Reservation Requirements

Sorry if this was mentioned before. But I wonder how MK is going to be on boo bash nights... If park reservations are full than folks who have tickets to boo bash show up at 7 than the park is going to be crazy full for the fireworks show. I might have to move around our nights at mk.

They currently have at least 3 attractions well under construction that are not replacing anything. And a 4th that's replacing something that barely anyone ever visited, so I'm sure the capacity actually used will be much better.

But not surprised once again using incorrect info to try and prove an invalid point.

WDW has insuffcient capacity thats why even now lines are hours long even with 50% capacity and without FP to gum up the works and when an attraction is replaced it generally can only handle 1/2 of the capacity of attraction(s) it replaced.
We have been to Disney World multiple times when a park, usually the MK, has reached capacity. You just go to another park. Most people tend to be self regulating. I have left Hollywood Studios and gone elsewhere when it’s gotten crowded. The reservation system removes that option.

Exactly - Disney TV could recommend parks based on anticipated attendance, For me Disney used to be about going with the flow. If I want to plan everything to the last detail ill go to work where i get paid for doing same

What rides are hours long? Less than a handful, if that. Longest line right now is one single ride at 80 min. One ride is 60, everything is else is 50 or less with most being 30 or less.

I really need to ignore, but hate when people do nothing but constantly post incorrect info.

I think the park reservation staying makes sense. They've already done the IT work to install it, and maintenance cost is minimal. At some point, reservations will be easy to get day-of. Once they are back to 100%, it will basically go back to the way it was before. Except that when they hit capacity instead of turning you away at the gate saying, "Sorry the park is full" the CM will be able to say, "You need a reservation to enter." No more arguments from someone upset saying how money the customer spent yada, yada.

I think they also like that they can tweak which customers get in. They haven't been shy about disadvantaging AP offsite guests.

We just got back from an 8 day trip with extended family. We visited every park but AK multiple times, our reservation for it was day 5. My nephews ages 5 & 6 loved the park and wanted to go back. Reservations were full so they could only hop after 2 but we had ADR's and other things going on to prevent it. They were very disappointed they could not rope drop.

For now. Nothing says it will be like that forever.

Considering Bob Chapek said it's here to stay for the forseeable future. less than a week ago its a safe assumption that wdw guests are indeed stuck with the new system. And there is no way that the Mickey Mouse operation known as Disney IT built something like this in a few weeks. This was planned for a long time with the goal of vastly reducing staffing at WDW.

Again, please read my posts. That is not at all what I said.

Oh I would not bet on the 'easy to get' part, This system will be tweaked to allow only the most profitable guests to gain entry at peak times. Say 4'th of july at MK. AP at All Stars BZZT no park for you, First time foreign traveller at GF, Let's roll out the red carpet for you. Big data will be used to choose the guests who get into the parks and with dynamic staffing kiss the discounts and 'free dining' buh bye.

At non-peak time that AP holder at All Stars might be able to score a MK or DHS reservation unless of course they have a time reserved at Savi's or CRT then they will grudgingly be allowed to enter. Just wait till ADR's are tied to park reservations you need a park reservation to make a ADR.

Even at non-peak times it may be more profitable to turn people away than to staff up to handle more people.

Being a corporate weasel myself it's not hard to come up with these scenarios because we've wargamed them all, not at WDW but in other corporate contexts. Pro Tip it's getting more important to fill out those warranty cards because they tell corporate you have spent money,

How are those pay per view only fireworks working out for you? Or better yet, I thought they were never coming back?

Hmmm, that is an interesting point. So, are thinking they will disappear reservations once they have staff schedules set?

Although, selfishly, I am OK with that. We will be onsite, ticketed guests who didn't get a discount and didn't expect free dining. With revenge travel, I think both those things are gone for at least two years.

I’m thinking ADR’s will become dependent on park reservations for dining inside the parks, with reservations they can precisely staff thereby eliminating the need for discounts unless too few whales show up to keep PRGS within acceptable limits.

the point being now Disney has control over who is in the parks and I expect that only the biggest spenders will be allowed park access. I’m sure there is also a sweet spot with the optimal number of guests and the minimum staffing needed to support them which yields maximum profit vs allow maximum number of people in which also requires maximum staffing which i expect is less profitable. Highest revenue but highest expense to match.

Here is my issue with the reservation system - I'm a very early riser in the morning, but the rest of my family is not. I'd get up early and head to DHS for early morning rope drop, ride the things like RNRC and TOT that my 5 year old wouldn't or couldn't ride, and and then would hop on the Skyliner to head back to the room once everyone was up and around, and we would all head to whichever park we were planning to start our day at. This eliminates that possibility.
