This is marked down to $17.51 currently on the B&N site. It was $21 dollars earlier today. Maybe you can get a credit if you call them?

Ohhhh! Thanks! I was able to get it adjusted. I eyed him all last year and didn't buy. I pulled it up this year and said if I can find it for $25 I am buying. I was happy with $21, but ecstatic about $17!

The Christopher-pop-in-kins is still $17.61. They just don't have a picture on it. If you spend $25 shipping is free. This one you can't pick up in store.

The Elf on a Shelf is $29. It looks like it does have some of them in stores. You can check availability for your area online or shipping is free too.

Ooh..I just love this idea and had never heard of it until a few days ago! I also want to start the day after Thanksgiving so I need to get something ordered soon!

I have a few questions for you guys. I honestly don't like the look and hard plastic of the real Shelf on an Elf. I was going to order an Elf that was plush from Amazon for like $13.00 that someone else posted. However, I'd love to get a book too. Does anyone have a suggestion to get them separately. I found the Chrisopher Pop in Kins link for B&N and for the book and the Elf at $17.00 that's not too bad. Do you guys think this book would tell the story well enough for me to just get me the Elf of my choice? Any other books do the same? I've googled it but can't seem to find one with just the book.

I found it at Barnes and Nobles for $21 something. There is free ship for a $25 purchase, so I added a small filler book.

Update! This is what I decided to go with too! I like the idea of him "bending" so he can get into things and also that it came with the book. I ordered from Amazon since I get free s/h and no tax. When I found it on the B&N website they had "usually available in 1-2 weeks" so that made me nervous!

I can't wait to do all of this and I'm going to start working on my December calendar soon!

I picked up my elf/shelf at Borders and used a 30% coupon so $19.99. I was happy with that price. I already wrapped it with a huge bow and gift tag that says "From Santa" I will put it outside the door on Thanksgiving. I am excited to start this!

I picked up an AnnaLee at Home Goods last night. It's a good size and is bendable. I too like the bendable, that way you can put them in different positions. This is the first year I'm doing this w/my grandsons. We're going to keep it at our house and send them the letter that states that,etc. We'll start this on Thanksgiving Day and continue that tradition. Looking forward to it. Any suggestions will be helpful.

We have 3 of the second one and they work fine. You can get them to sit up, but they are not bendable. I liked them because they were very cute and not scarey looking. They certainly have had no problems getting into mischief

I KNOW! Me, too! LOL I actually bought a real elf on the shelf last year. LOL I just couldn't even take him out of the box. I sold him & bought this one. My DD named her Flickers. Santa should be delivering her in a couple weeks. Can't wait til the Elf thread starts w/ everyone sharing pics of what their elves got in to in the night. Can't remember which board that's on...

I thought the SAME THING, I was going to buy the book and doll at Barnes and Noble, but I thought DD would be freaked out by the plastic doll, this one is so much cuter!!
