I will be sure to check it out! I found a cpl of choices on ebay even a cute little Anna snowman that might would do.

Barnes and Noble has the Elf On the Shelf book with elf for $30. It is the elf with the hard plastic head.

You could order a dark skinned version of the elf, but did not have it in the store.

They also had a plush elf for I think, $13, but I could be wrong on that. It was the same elf, only it is a stuffed doll, not with a hard plastic head. I haven't seen this soft version anywhere else yet.

A member card would save 10 percent immediately. But if you buy anything, they ask you for your email address and that gets you on the coupon emailing list.

I've read about the elf on the shelf for several years here on the disboards, but have never seen them. I'd love to get one for my niece5 and nephew3 (maybe one for my DD13!) What does the book say? Can anyone give me an example of how to introduce it to them or a similar story?

On the borders website, if you search for the book and click on it and scroll down there is a video. Pretty cute!

FOUND IT! This is the letter that came with Jingles (I just winged it. typed it in red and green.. and put it on santa stationary)

My niece is a bit nervous about strange things coming to life and doing things LOL so santa had to be a bit reassuring. (I live with my mother at the moment that's why it says he's at Grammas)

OP here-Thanks to everyone for the tips. The Christmas Elf idea is so fun and I can't wait until our elf "Epcot" (Our kids named him that last year-Can you tell we had recently returned from our first Disney Trip?!!!!!) reappears right after Thanksgiving.

This is marked down to $17.51 currently on the B&N site. It was $21 dollars earlier today. Maybe you can get a credit if you call them?
