Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has an electronic piggy bank? I know some ppl don't want to see how much they have saved right away but I thought this might be a neat gift for Santa to bring my DD8 so she can watch her money grow and grow...here's some of the ones I've been looking at online:

we have several regular piggy banks but i want an electronic one now so any suggestions would be great..also I'm not having luck finding them in local retail stores, any tips? TIA!

My older ds has one similar to the first one. It works ok. It can recognize all coins, but you have to enter in the value of the bills. He has a hard time opening it because it has a combo lock.

I found one on clearance for my younger son for $6 that has an "ATM" card that you use to turn it on and to open it you have to enter a pin number. It also recognizes the coins and not bill values.

The problem my kids have is that they like to take the money out all the time just to play with the bank. If you don't tell the bank you are withdrawing money, the total will get all messed up.

I got one for my grandsons birthday, (he turns five in a few days), that is like the first one on your list. $9 and change at Target on clearance. I would call your store and see if they have any. They also come in pink at Target.

We have one for my son who's 10. He's had for a few years. You can set up percentages the way you want and it has SAVE, GIVE, SPEND. When his SAVE amount gets to about $7-10 we go and deposit it into his bank acount. The SPEND is for whatever he wants. The GIVE is for church. If your child doesn't tithe at church, you could just use it for a vacation fund or something like that.

Ours also has the ATM cards and works great. It's called The Learning ATM by Larry Burkett. It's on Amazon and is $36. A little pricey but the batteries last a very long time and isn't a chinzy product.

We also keep it in my other son's closet so other kids who come in the house aren't tempted to play with it.......

ok cool, i'll have to check out target tomorrow, our nearest one is about a hour away..so far seems like people who have them like them..this would not be a toy for her to play with, strictly for saving...i want one that she can put actually bills into since she gets money for her birthday and sometimes for christmas to..this way she's able to set her own goals and try to hit them, she's always looking for change..last yr i was tempted to buy her a metal detector but decided against it...thank you..keep the reviews coming!

We have one like the third one in your selection (different brand tho) and the only problem I have with it is that if the batteries die while I'm still saving money I have to re-enter all the money or work without a correct total.

Today I got lucky and was at our local thrift store and found one similar to the third one I posted..The only issue I see with it so far is if you put a coin in the slot and don't push it in right away it will count that amount and then when you push it in it will count it again..so i'm reentering our coins now for the third time lol..but the kids are having fun with it, even my almost 2 yr old wants to put the coins in the slot to hear them klink with the others lol this one does not have dollar slot but we'll just save those separately..and for only $1 the price was right lol...so far looks like we have $20 saved, which i don't think is too shabby from just finding coins on the ground and whatnot

The one I have doesn't have a dollar slot - but I will "half-push" a quarter in the slot four times to equal a dollar (just far enough for 25 cents to register, but not far enough to drop the quarter in) - and then just unscrew the top to put the dollar bill in.

HTH :)

yeah that's what i started doing with the money that was being added accidentally, i just unscrewed the top and dropped the money in..my daughter is getting more and more sneaky about finding money now lol..she added a $1.60 just today..if she keeps this up we'll be good to go considering it's just extra money lol
