electronic educational games for 7 y.o. girl

I wanted to get her the v-smile or leapster -but most games for that are for preschool or 1st grade level.
Any ideas on educational games for a 7 year old girl? There are not any educational games for Ninetendo DS are there?
Does anyone have any PC games for that age they really like?

When my DS was about that age we got him one of those talking globes, by Quantum Leap...

We all had such fun with it!! Even grown cousins were enjoying it!!
