Hi.

I was given an electronic Disney GC for Christmas.
I have the email, bar code, etc.

My next trip is October. I would like to use the card for purchases, dinner, etc.
I won't need for room since we are DVC.

What is the easiest way to do above?

Thank you.

Do you have an old physical GC? If so, you can transfer the balance from the eGC to it by using the disneygiftcard.com website.

If not, then the next best way to handle it is to do a screenshot of the eGC, including the barcode, account number and EAN. CMs should be able to use that info to complete your purchase. You can also use it for mobile ordering. You just cannot store the GC info on the Disney app. For mobile ordering purposes, you may want to copy the account number and EAN into notes on your phone and then c/p it into the payment area on mobile ordering.

Imho physical cards are easier to deal with so I would either

Go online to disneygiftcard.com and pick out a fun physical gift card for my trip. Load it with the minimum $25.00 and Disney will ship it for free. Transfer the e- gift card funds to that one once it arrives. BUT to do that you need to have 3 weeks before your trip. The cards take 1-2 weeks to arrive in my experience and you should always give a one week buffer so that's why I say 3.

OR

If you don't want a special design just buy a disney gift card at your local grocery store, hardware store, target (5% off if you pay with a RedCard debit or credit card), walmart, best buy, pharmacy, etc. and transfer the e- gift balance to that.

You can have up to $1,000.00 on a Disney gift card fyi, they won't load more than that.

Thank you. This is very helpful. So I can go to CVS, put a few dollars on the card and that will "activate" it?
Once activated, I can download the GC amount? Is that correct? I will do either the $25 Disney one or just go to CVS.
I don't care what it looks like.

Thanks!

Thank you. No. I do not have a physical GC I can apply it to. I guess if I didn't put on an active GC, I'd have to do as you mentioned and/or bring the paperwork with me, which seems like a pain. I'll just do the activate a GC thing.

Thanks so much!

Yep. Go to CVS. Get the smallest denomination Disney gift card they have (usually $25, sometimes there are variables that start at $15). Buy it. Register the card to your Disney Gift Card online account. Transfer the e-gift funds to the physical card. Done!

So I was not the only one thinking that the 'e-gift' route was a pain. After getting a $50 e-card from Best Buy with the 10% off deal the other day, I found out as mentioned above that the Disney app won't store the card as a payment method. Still, I'm on the fence regarding the workaround with a physical card, as I figure the fewer physical things getting passed around, the better.

Thank you. I will do this. I wasn't aware there was a place on the MDE app to store the card information. Once I have the GC stored on the MDE, how does that work? Is it easier for me to just use the actual card?

You can't add gift cards to MDE. You can use them to make purchases through MDE but you have to enter the number and PIN each time.
