2 questions: Which way does the parade run? Also, would it be possible for my husband to hold us seats in front of engine ears toys, while my kids and I shopped/ is that an OK place to sit?

Yes that is a great place to sit. It makes for a quicker getaway when the parade is over and the park is closed.

Your husband can def hold a spot for you. I suggest you bringing a blanket. We got an awesome blanket at Target that folds up into itself. It is very easy t ocarry since the straps are built in to the blanket. We do not leave home (for Disney) without the blanket! I am ALWAYS the one holding the spots for my family. The blanket just makes it so much easier to hold the space that you need. It is less stressful and less likely that someone will send their kid to come sit in front of you because you are not right at the line and have been sitting there for an hour and the parade is starting!

To be honest I have seen the parade go both ways. The last time we watched it was last year and it was going from the back of the park to the front. Someone else may be able to answer that better. At first I thought I knew the answer and then when I went to type it I realized that I have seen in both ways. :confused3

The parade begins at the Pier near the Orange Stinger and runs toward the entrance. They changed it so that it only runs this way in an attempt to prevent the crowds from trying to get back to DL to watch the fireworks.

I actually prefer to watch the parade from down in the pier area or near Golden Dreams theater. It seems much less crowded than in Sunshine Plaza. I usually can beat the parade to Sunshine Plaza by walking through the back GRR trail area, Condor Flats and then slip out of the park while the large crowds are still watching the EP in the plaza area.

I agree with DangerMouse.

We always sit around Jumping Jellyfish. You can 'curbside' seats easily 15 minutes before it starts.

It seems really bright around there but they turn off all the lights during the parade.

the park will remain an extra 15 min after the ELP parade finishes.
