electric fireplaces

We are thinking of purchasing an electric fireplace for my MIL. Does anyone have any experience with these? They certainly have come a long way with looking realistic!

I've heard they are really good. I have a wood fireplace and although I love it, it can get pretty messy.

We have an electric fireplace, bought it last year. It helps to warm our family room and unless you are right next to it looks like a wood burning or gas fireplace. We have enjoyed ours.

Judi, do you know what brand it is?

We have a real one upstairs in our living room and an electric one downstairs in the playroom. The electric one is easier to use, cleaner, and warms the room better.

We bought ours at Home Depot, it is a Princeton made by Pyromaster I believe.
