I usually go to Disney the week after Thanksgiving. For various reasons, we are now considering going the week of Election Day. I did a little research and found that Election Day does not have that big of an impact on the crowds. Can anyone confirm that or contradict that? The week after Thanksgiving is so nice and I don't want to make the mistake of going when it is much more crowded. Any info. anyone can give would be apprecitiated!

First hand experience on this one.....For the past several years we have gone to WDW the first or second week of December. Last year our school system put in a fall break that revolved around election day (Fri before through elec day). We decided to go to WDW at that time. I would not have to take off, and DS would not miss any school. Crowds were not bad until election day! And while they were not June-July-August crowds, they were more than we were used to. Plus, they were just starting to put up the Christmas decs. If I were you, I'd stick to the week after T-giving.

Thank you for your response. Did it get busy on Election Day & remain busy the rest of the week or was it just busy on that day? Also - did putting up the decorations have any bearing on your judgement? What about the weather? One more thing - how much did you miss "Christmas" at Disney. We love it. Thanks again!

Hi there! We went for the week before thanksgiving in 1997 and it was WONDERFUL! Gorgeous weather and low crowds. We went back during the 1st week in November in 2000 and it was a repeat experience. I would HIGHLY recommend going during that timeframe! Also, I think they're putting up the holiday decorations earlier this year too so you might be able to catch some within that timeframe.

If that's important to you, then I'd say maybe you'd be better off going after Thanksgiving.

Thanks for the tip on the xmas decorations. I hope they do put them up earlier. I've seen them so many times, I'll try to manage w/out them just this once if they don't. I'm such a creature of habit, I'm trying to force myself to try something a little different. Plus we have so many reasons to go that 1st week. Friends of ours are going then too. Thanks again.
