Elderly mom and scooter rental

Our family will be traveling to WDW and Universal in Dec. Our mom, who is 83, will be traveling with us for the first time. She has limited mobility and will need to use a scooter (or a manual wheelchair).
Two questions:

Those with elderly parents--what have you found to be helpful in terms planning the amount of time you spend in the parks each day?

Since we are switching resorts from WDW to Universal--has anyone done this and how did you make the arrangements? Did you have to do 2 different rentals and deliveries?

Any other tips would be greatly appreciated!

I would rent a scootor from vacation scootors in orlando. They will deliver the scootor you choose where ever you will be staying, and explain to you just how easy the breakdown of the scootor is. My wife and i use whats called the diplomat which runs about $35.00 dollars a day. These scootors are very simple and easy to break down, diplomat has about 3 breakdown pieces and fits right into the trunk of your car or the back of the van. You would have your scootor at all times for you mom where ever yall might want to go. We fly in from louisiana and have 2 diplomat scootors delivered the following morning. We stay in the windsor hills resort and pay no delivery charge for the scootors there, im sure if delivery charges are given elsewhere it can't be that much. You know my wife and i took care of my two parents and her mother before they died. We were able to have my wifes mother with us on several trips to disney world. I think with a nice scootor and if your moms feeling well, she may just outdo the others in the group. By renting a scootor from an outside company your able to ride your scootor all the way up to your automobile. No walking for the elderly, and by doing this i thing the disney world trip could be a pleasent one. Good luck, spencer aucoin

We have rented a scooter for my Dad on a number of family holidays in WDW.They are very good value - and it means he has them to use all of the time not just in the parks.

We've booked with www.randysmobility.com - who deliver and collect free of charge in Orlando. They will deliver to one location and if you move hotel they will collect from a different location to the one used for the drop off.

We have also used www.scootaround.com - when we required a " fold & go" scooter which was easy to transport. They too deliver and collect free of charge and to different locations if you wish.

Both companies were really good.
