El Tovar at the Grand Canyon

OK, so I've come to the conclusion that we are not going to get in here for this year. I've been trying to get in here since late October. Didn't learn until after the fact that people book here a year in advance. So we are postponing this trip until 2012.

So my question is, is there a specific room I should ask for. In oher words if we could get one with a view of the Canyon, I would like to request it.

My question would be: what do you plan to do with your days?

We stayed in the Thunderbird Lodge two years ago, with a room facing the street. Since we weren't in the room during the day, the view didn't matter to us. But, it was AMAZING to step out of the lodge, turn the corner and be on the rim of the Canyon (and see some moose grazing on the lawn!).

You will pay more for the view, so decide if that is important to you.

If you can, take the mule ride down into the Canyon. It's 6 hours round trip, you are sore and smelly, but it was a once in a lifetime experience!
