Wow, how horrible! I have been in a crowd situation like that only once, and ever since then I stay back and close to exits so I can get out if I need to. It seems like sporting events have this problem more than almost any other type of activity, except for maybe concerts. There isn’t any activity that I am willing to risk a crowd stampede for anymore.

Wow, how horrible! I have been in a crowd situation like that only once, and ever since then I stay back and close to exits so I can get out if I need to. It seems like sporting events have this problem more than almost any other type of activity, except for maybe concerts. There isn’t any activity that I am willing to risk a crowd stampede for anymore.

Unfortunately, in Central America, this can be quite common. The USMNT (team USA) are often threatened with violence and have things such as urine thrown at them and have laser pointers shined at their eyes when our national teams are forced to play in Central America. Concacaf and their member FAs try to make matches as safe as possible but it's harder to implement safer conditions in poorer countries. That's why (besides higher ticket revenue) foreign member associations try to play their matches in the USA (much to the criticism of the US fanbase).
