Still trying to find out if they changed the menu when they reopened. Hope they didn't!

Are there still taco salads and kids taco meals?

On the two day's we visited MK it was not open.:(

Its under refurbishment, im not sure when it is going to open again, hopefully soon because that place is awesome, i liked their tacos a lot.:bounce: :earsboy:

I ate there in early December. It seems it's closed more often than not, but that day they were filming the Christmas parade and the park was more crowded. Perhaps because of the crowds it was open (for lunch at least:D ) and I had two tacos which were very good. They had taco salads and kid's taco meals then as well.

Thanks everyone - especially baileybelle! Looks like they haven't changed anything.

I just hope it's open by September!

Ditto! DH and I always started our vacation off at MK with a ride on Pirates followed by lunch or dinner here...it hasn't been open in our last THREE trips!

All I can say about this place is....yuck, yuck and more yuck.

You have to excuse me, but I am from Texas, and we know Tex-Mex and Mexican food. I have visted other parts of the country and I found the "Mexican Food" to be somewhat of a joke.

I do apologize, but I catagorize this as well as San Angel in Epcot as the same. Is the food at Coronado Springs the same?

Actually - I thought the "mexican" food in Mexico at EPCOT was worse then this place! hehehe I actually CRIED while eating at that counter service place in Mexico my food was so bad...took all my strength not to chuck it in the water.

I rate El Pirata around the caliber of a Taco Bell. hehehe still yummy to me.

You know, I love Taco Bell and Taco Bueno, but I just could not do the Pirate and Parrot. It was way too....something. It was like going to a Chinese food place and having the Broccoli Shrimp made by people who specialize in German food. Something was just not right.

We were at the Magic Kingdom last Thursday (7/3) and had lunch at El Pirata. It's our favorite place to eat at MK. My husband and I both love the tacos there. I agree it's not authentic TexMex (we're from CA originally) but it's still good food. The taco salads are also very good there. It's a nice quiet place to grab a bite and it's not as crowded as other places.

I agree with you regarding Epcot. We tend to be Mexican food snobs.

At Maya Grill, the entrees are very American, but the appetizers are a little more interesting, with some Latin touches. They actually have good pork empanadas. We really enjoyed our meal there. It wasn't quite terribly authentic, but they never sell themselves that way, as San Angel Inn seems to do.
