As the indians said when they watched the ships land at plymouth rock....

"well...there goes the neighborhood!"

Finally I'll be able to just step on him! Maybe with muddy shoes... :rolleyes1

one question: WHY???????????

Well, I would be one of the last people to defend Eisner, but I have no problem with him getting a star. In fact, I think it could be overdue. People point the finger and blame him for everything that has ever been wrong with Disney. Right or wrong, he was a big part of saving the company in the 80's and he contributed greatly to the success that the company saw in the 90's.

But more importantly, Eisner was the head of Paramount for many years and worked for ABC during its heyday. All in all, I think that without a doubt, where movies and television are concerned, Eisner definately deserves a star.

Eisner deserves his fair share of blame for Disney's demise in quality over the past 10 years, but one decade does not a career make. Give the guy a break on this one.

I agree!
I learned alot about him from his book a "Work in Progress".

1) He did do a lot in his career.
2) Of course, he was ugly for the last ten years at Disney.

This is the same guy who brought us Beauty & The Beast right? The Little Mermaid and The Lion King too?
Some pretty high marks right there. IMHO

I was more asking about what he did personally besides run Disney to earn a star. I thought they mostly went to actors/singers/directors/etc.

Didn't Disney start going south when Wells died??????

Yup! That was after TLM and B&TB...I do give Eisner credit for those movies...but it was the last couple of years that really made me dislike him.

TLM, BatB, TLK, Aliddin, Mulan and Tarzan are the amazing movies he did.

He did screw up alot of the classic feel disney used to have though. The Princess and the Frog should have been here by now instead of movies like Brother Bear...

Eisner didn't "DO" any of those movies. He may have given the green light to have them done, but he was never an active part of the movie making process. Sometimes he would give his input, much to the dismay of the animators, directors, etc.

Eisner gets credit for bringing great people on board who were responsible for many of the success stories that Disney had during his reign. Jeffrey Katzenberg and Frank Wells deserve most of the credit for the films from Little Mermaid through Hunchback. And of course Ashman, Menkin, Rice and Elton John created the great music that made many of these films so memorable. Eisner definately built a strong team of creative geniuses.

Like I said earlier, there is no question that Eisner deserves his star. He also gets similar credit where TV shows like Happy Days, Lavern & Shirley, Taxi and others are concerned. And he was the head of Paramount during the Indiana Jones and Eddie Murphy eras.

ChrisFL....People throughout the business can receive stars...writers, directors, producers, wardrobe, etc....as long as there is some type of long term acheivement involved....and I guess pulling Disney out of a dark hole in the 80's, amoung his other jobs throughout the business was enough to get him the star.

The Princess and the Frog will be out in 2009.

Let's go back a few 10 years...

He brought us quiet of few of the award winning movies, re-released MANY of the old ones. Up graded the Broadway shows... Lion King .. Tarzan and now Mary Poppins...re built the thearter for them to be in.

Started a cruise line and had in plans to expand it.

Added several new rides at ALL the parks and added more parades and added 1Park more under his stead. He also gave us the "Year of a Million Dreams".

And he added the Disney Stores and put them online.

Went into partnership with Pixar and the Muppets

I dont have to mention the book company he helped, buying ABC and the History channel... buying sports teams. Charity work with the Boys and Girls Clubs, Disney Worldwide Outreach programs ...howabout the VoluntEARS...

I think he has EARNED the star. A few screw ups doesn't make him undeserving in my eyes.
Please meet the man... he's awsome.

Well I am in the minority....I am glad he got a star and I am not at all unhappy with him. Remember the last years he was there was after 9/11 and it survived. I have been going 2X a year for 2 and 3 weeks at a time since 2000 and I do have a problem with Bob Iger....and the feel of Disney since Eisner left, all that outsourcing etc. and price increases (tickets and the latest strouler increases) I feel Walt is spinning in his grave. Only my humble opinion.
