Is there something I can substitute for an egg in a cookie recipe?

I just made two cakes and started cookies, only to realize I'm short an egg! No neighbors are home :( and no teens to run to the store.

Is there an ingredient that might be used in its place? Should I just run to the store, yet again? Ugh. Or should I just forget the cookies?

TIA

You can use 1/4 cup of unsweetened applesauce for every egg you need to replace. In my experience, it works best if you are only replacing part of the eggs in the dish.

Thank you so much! Thats awesome abd great to know! I just jotted it down in my main cookbook!

There is an egg replacer product "Ener-G" that you can get in any good health foodstore (my friend's son is allergic.) It is primarily for baking I think.

Alhtough it doesn't help you right now, I always have container of powdered egg whites in my pantry. I use it often in baking and don't have to worry about having fresh eggs on hand. We eat a lot of eggs and I often run out before I even know about it!

1 heaping tablespoon of soy flour (added with dry ingredients) and 1 tablespoon of water (added to wet ingredients) works also. This is an old Tightwad Gazette idea that I have used for years. I usually sub about half the amount of "real" eggs..............P

I bake with egg sub all the time and it doesn't seem to make a difference. Use 1/4 cup for each egg the recipe calls for.

Do to health reasons,I had to find substitutes for fat( eggs) in cakes I do the applesauce, my family loves actually think cakes are moister.

I use "egg beaters" when I cook all the time. as the an other poster said 1/4 cup equals a egg. But I use a 1/3 of a cup since I normally buy x-tra large eggs.
