After reading from many, that it has been raining every afternoon, I have a ? about the parades.

I read somewhere that the characters must be indoors during rain, for obvious reasons, so what happens if the parade is scheduled for say 3, and it starts raining? Do they postpone, and resume when it stops, or do they just cancel that parade?

I was thinking well, if it does rain, we dont plan on leaving, we will don our ponchos and continue.... but why leave an area, and head to parade route, if "the parade is not going to go on"??

anyone know this?
thanks!!

anyone? anyone at all?
been there during a parade when it started to rain? or started raining just before a parade?

It depends a lot on the severity of the storm and if it looks like it will last long.
We have sat and watch many parades in the rain.
Once at MK....we picked out spot about 25 minutes before 3pm. Sky was as blue as blue can be....then at about 10 minutes til 3.....boom.....these huge black clouds show up and it started to pour. On with the ponchos.....most folks gave up and went their seperate ways. But we stuck it out.....the rain slowed down by about 3:15 and the parade went on. It was still raining lightly, and the parade did not stop as many times. Nor did they do the usual-- bring the kids out to dance thing.
Once at MGM...it had been raining off and on all day. At times heavy, but mostly just a light drizzle. But there was no lightening, so the parade went on as usual. We have all the pictures of the cars and all the characters have umbrellas. Each umbrella look like part of the whole costume! Kinda neet!

I think they only cancel the parade if the CM are in danger...like if there is a lot of lightening. You will hear announcement updating the situation usually beginning around 15 minutes prior to start time.

We went 7/28 thru 8/4.

Both nights we went to MK, SpectroMagic was cancelled due to lightning. Everyone was camped out on Main Street at 7:oopm for 9:00 parade and then it was cancelled. The day we went to MGM, the parade was 1st postpone and then within 1/2 cancelled due to heavy dowmpour of rain. We just didn't have good luck.

It rained all but one day, sometimes it started raining at 10:00pm sometimes at 4:00pm(and never stopped). As far as I could tell the AK parade was probably cancelled all but one day.

The fireworks at MK went on every night as scheduled, but Tinkerbell did not fly.

They track the weather and if they see a storm coming in, sometimes they will start the parade a little early to beat the rain. Another good reason to get a spot for the parade early.

We were watching Stars & Motor Cars, and it drizzled throughout the first half of the parade. They carried umbrellas or just got wet.

But then it began pouring, and they hurried to finish it up. Everyone stepped on the gas and the parade turned into Stars & Indy 500 Cars :)

Last week at MGM it was pouring when parade time came, and they made an announcement that it was cancelled.

Tuesday at MK everyone was lined up when it started to rain just a couple of minutes before it was to start. They made an announcement that it would be delayed. A lot of people cleared out and we got a better viewing spot. Then a CM came around and told us personally that they would likely be cancelling it because all the outdoors attractions were closing. We stuck it out anyway, but 5 minutes later they came on an announced it was cancelled.

We ended up only seeing AK parade and Spectro due to weather. It was dissapointing, but I guess to be expected in FL in August! We would have stood there in any kind of weather!

just today the AK parade was cancelled and they didn't notify the guests until something like 3:50. It seemed as if they were waiting until the very last minute to see if the "show could go on"

We were there two weeks ago, and it rained every afternoon. On Thursday, it was drizzling, but not heavy downpour or thunder. Lots of people were lined up for Spectro, but the cancellation was announced at 8:50 or so. At MGM, the parade started about 30 minutes late in a light drizzle.

We sat in the rain two days in a row to watch the MK day parade! Both days, 15 minutes before the parade started, the sun shone brightly, then boom! The first day, the parade went by very quickly (but to be fair, it was raining heavily, the characters were soaked) we have some cool pictures of the sheets of rain coming down tho! The next day, the rain was lighter, the characters carried umbrellas, but the princess float wasn't in the parade. I think the MGM parade having umbrellas themed to each car is SO cool, I almost want to see it in the rain!!!
