Effect of EMH/evening on PS--not fun

I was just checking the January hours as I just finished making my PS for my trip Jan. 15-22 and boy was I surprised to see the evening hours or EMH have completely changed. The entire week we are there, the evenings hours are now flip/flopped from the original schedule. I thought the evening hours were going to be a set schedule, but they are not. So if you are going in January during the MLK week, you better check that schedule.

They are listed to be: (these are evening hours)
Sun/MGM
Tue/AK
Wed/MK
Thur/EPCOT

But the week of Jan. 15 they are now:
Sun/AK
Tues/MK
Wed/EPCOT
Thur/MGM

And if you're going in February, hold on to your hats because these changed occur almost the entire month of February. I tried looking at it and it made my head spin. So back to square one of my PS list on Monday and need to make some changes. I love the idea of the new evening hours, but with the schedule changing and not staying "set" it will be a nightmare for us planners, especially for those evening PS.

Where do you find the official schedule? Did you get it when you called for PS?
I have to start making my PS in Jan for our April trip & I'm doing heavier planning this trip due to Spring Break crowds.
I was counting on a set schedule too. I wonder why they're mixing it up so much?

Leoto, my hubby is a CM and we have access to the employee only website. This is where CMs get their information when guest call and ask questions. The information came from the "guest tab" under official hours for January. I imagine they post the same thing on their official website. The information is usually the same and posted nearly the same time. I'm just feeling a little stressed because I just finished making my PS and now I have to redo all of the evenings ones, because I had planned to eat at the late parks, then go play. Now I'm at the wrong parks on the wrong days. ugh. And to make matters worse, the 50s PT will be closing for refurbishing 2 days after I arrive, so had to work a visit there and had planned that MGM was open late on Sunday, now it isn't and it's the PT's last night until February.

n2mm, thanks for the info. Just when I think I have it figured out, it's changed again!!! If you don't mind me asking, are the EMH evening hours the same the week before? We will be there a combo of the two weeks, so it looks like I'll be changing some of our plans, too. Hoping I don't have to redo all our ps's.

Right now, the only week that seems crazy and out of order is the week of Jan. 15th. The other weeks in January are left the same. Of course, will they change again??? no one knows. I'm assuming the changes occurred because this is the holiday week. Maybe there is a convention or party that is affecting which day is open late. I dont' have a clue. But all I can say is that there doesn't seem to be any rhymn or reason involved in February. I've yet to print that mess out and try to find a pattern. Thank goodness I'm not going then. Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of later hours in the parks, but if the days constantly change, it will wreak havoc on us planners.

My trip starts 90 days from tomorrow. We're going to be there the week before Easter, which will be very busy - so I need to make PS now. Problem is - no hours are out yet - regular or EMH. We already bought our Cirque tickets based on the original schedule that came out for EMH. Oh well - that's done and not changeable. Do you know when I can anticipate hours will be posted?

Thanks for the info as we are there the 16th - 21st and will be affected. My guess is that they adjusted them just that week in January due to the MLK crowds at the beginning of the week. Now I've gotta think about our PSs and what to do with them!

I just checked the EMH hours for the week we are going to WDW in February on these DIS boards. (I hope those hours are correct!) There seems to be only one difference from the EMH hours I found before. Yay! I was getting worried about the PS's I had already made. When the new evening EMH hours came out, I was pleased with how great our PS's worked with the longer evening hours. Luckily, our plans are still okay!

I want to get subscribed to this thread. I know it's asking a lot of work on your part, but I would be in your debt if you could post the schedule for February. I am going Feb. 6-11th, but I know a lot of others would be interested in knowing about any changes.

This is what is currently posted on the website. Remember all times are subject to change:

Week of Feb. 6:
sun/ak

So as you can see, each week is different. You'll have to do the work of matching up the hours and calculating the times. Are they trying to tweak the days and find what works best?? I don't know. I'm just posting what I know. This is the EXACT information you would get if you called and asked this question. Hopefully it helps, but be warned, I thought I figured it all out last week and my week completely changed, so take this with a grain of salt.

The only reason I stumbled on this information is because another CM wrote on the CM only board and asked if anyone else had visited the CM website to see the EMH hours posted because she was confused by the changes too.

Wow - that is strange. I wonder why they are varying the EMH evening hours? Sounds confusing.

We will be at WDW for 6 days and we will only have two EMH evening hours while wew are there and they both will be at MGM.

As far as I can tell there are no changes to the morning offerings.


Now I'm bummed I was so excited for an extra 3 hours at MK on my first night, but now I have no night hours at MK during my trip My trip has two nights of MGM open late though and one at Epcot. I hope they don't change this again becuase I have to still call and make some PS!

We were at WDW last May when they tested the Evening EMH's. Unfortunately, they made the changes about 3 weeks before our departure and it sent me into a huge tail spin.

Luckily, the parks were uncrowded and we didn't have any problems with changing our PS's.

I'm really confused now too. We are going the MLK week, and like everyone else, thought I'd finally figured this out. Now we aren't there for any AK early or late times and pick up a late EPCOT instead. Not sure this helps at all since we'd be unlikely to stay that late in any case! And I'll have to squeeze AK in somewhere in a 3 day trip - AAUUGGHH! Does anyone know if the park hours have changed as well or are those the same as listed last week? Thanks!

I'm glad that I will be there during a slow time and can most likely get last minute PS's. What a pain for those that need to plan in advance, though.

I need to sit down and work on our schedule to see how the early openings and late closings work into our plans.

n2mm, what are the dates of the Prime Time Cafe closing? That restaurant is at the top of my son's restaurant requests, but I've already warned him that it might be closed.
