We're doing a week at an offsite vacation home with family, so to get our onsite fix our family is going early to do a couple days on our own.

With only two nights, I could go one of two routes.. decide, hey, it's only two nights, let's pick a great deluxe that I've always wanted to try, I'm only paying for two nights right? Or, I could go the opposite route and say, these two extra vacation days are a little indulgence already atop a week of vacation and I should do them as inexpensively as possible, so let's do a value. Well, I'm am being responsible :) and doing the latter. So which value?

I have to say, I can't get worked up about caring one way or the other. It is only two nights, and to be honest they all seem interchangable to me. I was planning on Pop because it is the newest but I've read recently that maybe the AllStars are still a better bet.

We will have a car (a Disney first for us) although we might use the bus for the MK.

I asked my dd which theme she liked. She loved all the AllStar themes, thought they were all cool and then said "Which one has the best water slide?" :rolleyes2 She does love resort pools. But we're going in February, so swimming isn't a certainty anyway.

So... you guys pick! I just need to book this thing. :p

I chose Pop for our family before we move to AKL. One thing you might want to consider is that the Values do not have water slides at the pools. Just some food for thought. Have a great trip!! :earsboy:

You will be able to swim in February, we Northerners aways swim in December/January. You do know there are no pool slides or hot tubs at the Values, right?

I really like Pop. It doesn't share a bus stop and I happen to like the pool and food court a little better than All Star Music or All Star Sports. If you really need a pool slide, I would pick CSR. It has a really fun pool.

Yeah, I know there are no water slides! That's why I did the :rolleyes2 when my daughter said that. 'Cause I had to break it to her, um, none of them have water slides.

I did think about doing a mod for the water slide issue.. but I really should stick to my guns and do this cheap.

Okay, I'm leaning towards Pop, it's really been taking it on the chin lately but the last few days there have been some good reports.

Why not go for a mod? If you stay at POR or POFQ you can use both of the main pools and the mods have slides.

Try the All Stars!

I am 55 years old and travel several times a year. I often stay at 4 star hotels.
So the deluxe resorts do not have anything special for me.
All Star is like being in the heart of the Magic and that is where I want to be.

All Star Music is my favorite. It is quieter because more couples stay there. I love staying at the Clypso building. It is closer to the pool, food court and bus stop.

Here is a site with a map of All Star Sports and All Star Music.

Scroll down. All Star Music is at the bottom of the page.
The Calypso buildings at All Star Music are #1 and #10 are nearest to the food court and bus stop.
They are the preferred buildings and cost about $12 extra per night.
The Calypso pool at ASMU has Donald Duck.

Here is the map of All Movies.

The Fantasia Buildings are the preferred buildings.
The All Star Movie Fantasia pool has Mickey.
It is a great place to stay .
Preschoolers love it.
It is like being in the middle of a Disney Movie Fantasyland.
All Star Movies has pop up fountains now also.
The buses are wonderful.

Bus rides are quite short from the ALL Stars according to PassPorter.com

All Star Buses-CBR buses---POPbuses--PO buses--- Contemporary
MK 20 min---- 20 min-----25 min------10 min---20 min(mono)
Epcot 10 min-- 15 min-----20 min------10 min---15 min
MGM 10 min----12 min-----15 min------15 min---20min
AK 10 min------20min-------15 min----15 min---20 min
DTD 15 min----20 min------20 min-----15 min---35 min

It only takes 10 minutes to get to Epcot,MGM and AK from All Stars.
MK is 20 min away. That's the same amount of time it takes on the monorail from the Contemporary.

I have visited WDW more than a dozen times with the 1st time in Oct. 1971. It was brand new. I've stayed at FW, Disney Inn, a few the of Hotels on hotel Blvd., CBR and the towers at the Contemporary. I got to see the MK from my balcony at the Contemporary and I'm happy I got to experience it once. I just prefer the All Star Resorts.
The theaming is pure Disney.
My last 5 visits have been at The All Stars and this fall when we took dd,dsil, and our grandson age 3 for 8 nights we stayed at the All Stars Music. I thought about AKL and even though we can well afford AKL I just wanted Alex to experience the Disney Magic :wizard: at the All Stars on his first visit.
Where else can one find Donald Duck or Mickey Mouse at the pool?
Have a great time at Disney!
I know we did!

We have stayed at all the values and here is how we rank them:
1. ASMo - we love this one!
2. ASMu
3. ASSp
4. POP - we wanted to love it, but just didnt.

Well, I showed dd all the pix last night and she thought they all looked very cool, although the Pop theme underwhelmed her. I think Music was the clear winner; she loved the look of the "Rock" section. She did again express regret at the lack of a water slide but seemed pretty happy with the looks of all the rooms.

I've actually really been dying to try Coronado Springs and this would be a great opportunity... just $100 more... but then again this is a perfect trip to try a value and I've really been wanting to try out a value. Oh decisions. Why do I go through this every time, it is supposed to be easy.

Okay. All Star Music. That's the one. Really. I'm not changing my mind.

UPDATE: Okay, I just booked it. Thanks all!!

Thanks for the update :). I hope you get the section you are hoping for!
