Hi All!

DSis and I will be participating in the Expedition Everest Challenge this year! :woohoo:

Is the reg fee (last year it was $165) per person or per team?

It looks like registration started around January for this year's race - does anyone know approximately when they will announce the dates for this year?

TIA! :)

Hi there!

The registration fee is per team. My DS16 and I did it this past May and it was SO much fun. We were just talking about it the other day and really want to do it again next year.

I can't remember when the date was announced. I'll look back and see if I can figure out. I know I registered in January.

It was in late Nov last year when they announced the 2011 race date. Let's hope the put the race on next year. It would be the only race outside of a Half/Marathon & 5K weekend. Disney has killed off all of the other race weekends without at least a Half Marathon.

This sounds like a fun race, I might have to consider it for some future time if they keep it going.

Oh, I soooo hope they don't discontinue this race!!!! :sad2: DS and I were just talking about how much we want to do it again. It is so much more than just a 5K, that I am hoping they will keep it even though it is a single event, and not coupled with a 1/2 or full marathon.

I did it was my friend this past year and it was wonderful. I will def do it again next year.

Even though I can't find where EEC has been officially announced for 2012, I did find that runDisney is looking for volunteers for pre-race and race day, May 4th and 5th, 2012 - I'd day that means the EEC is a go! :cool1:

Don't get too exctied. Disney announced the ESPN the Weekend for 2012 with dates only to later kill the race. Until reg opens I wouldn't hold my breath!

Well...drat. Blue's not my best color so I guess I won't hold my breath.

Hmmm...then again, the whole ESPN the Weekend was called off, not just the race, because "they are shifting their focus with ESPN" so maybe I'll just hold my breath once-in-awhile. ;)

While at the dlr race EXPO, I stopped by the run disney booth to check out the Donald race and did notice every race had their new 2012 medal showing, except Everest, it was a no show. Is it a sign that this race too is canceled or just a coincidence? Just an observation i made.

I was one of the privledged 25 who did the Jeff Galloway meetup Friday morning. Run Disney spokesman mentioned all of next years races but not EEC. I asked her directly and she said it WOULD be back in May next year with registration opening up in November :)

That's great! I had such a wonderful time this past year. Between the obstacles and the scavenger hunt. Its good to hear it will be back. Now just have to think about a costume.

:yay: Yes!! :woohoo:

So, if you are a klutz, should you avoid doing the EE Challenge? The 5K doesn't seem difficult but the obstacle course scares me a bit! :lmao:

Go for it! The obstacles really aren't that bad and if you get really nervous about one of them you can always just skip it.

Although I hope you don't mind if I add in a small rant... While I don't think someone should be forced to do an obstacle if it truly frightens them or could be a health hazard, I think that if you're fast enough to be in contention for an award that the obstacles should be required. Last year I saw several of the frontrunners in the 5k skip the last obstacle which was an option between either climbing up and over a rope net or crawling underneath a net. The obstacles are part of the fun and challenge of the event and skipping them for a faster 5k time defeats the spirit of the event.

Anyway, I've done every EEC so far so I could be getting these mixed up, but I think last year the other obstacles were jumping over a series of small hay bales and a tire run.

I just saw this on the runDisney page for EEC:

More information on the 2012 Expedition Everest™ Challenge will be coming soon.

So, hopefully that means its a go??? You guys are thinking early May again? I hope it isnt' Mothers Day weekend again ... that was a bummer.

I just googled ... Mothers Dat 2012 is May 13th. So if they do May 5th - that would be awesome!!!!

DS and I flew down to Florida alone for the weekend. It was a blast but I hated not being home with my two DSs on Moms Day.,
