Discovery Center at IOA would be your best bet. It's inside the JP section. They have a center where you can figure out what is in the dino egg and places where you can look through a dino's eyes. Also has skeletons and such. Ive never looked around much other than that so I'm sure there is more to do. I'm pretty sure there is a place where you can "hatch" an animal. You can also do lessons on what types of dinos the skeleton might be or what the models might be. I'm uploading some pics I took there and will post the album in a bit.

There is also Camp Jurassic but I have honestly not ever been in there.
Any one else know about it? There is also an Animals Live show at Universal. Maybe teach him about great whites before he gets on jaws?

Just some ideas, kind of pulling them out of a hat.

Oh and Poseidon's Fury, If you're in to teaching him Greek Mythology this is a great attraction to do it. Yes, it is a bit cheesy but I love the ending!

There's ways to make the other rides educational too. Twister you can teach him about the weather? or what cases a tornado? There is also an Animal's Live show at Universal so

I never realised how much learning there was to be had at Universal! I need to take my son right away... its so educational that I hate for him to miss the opportunity.... We'll just have to make the supreme sacrifice and go to Florida... :rotfl: No seriously, those are all great ideas. How old is your child?

I don't know how old your child is, but I think you could make something educational out of discussing how movies were transformed into rides at the park. Also, the theming and execution of the rides are quite different from Disney. For instance, in Terminator, they incorporate live actors into sequences of film; I find it fascinating.

Also, the Horror Make-up artist show is interesting (and entertaining) to learn how make-up is done.

I'm not sure about factual learning, but as far as observation and critical thinking skills, look around IOA's Port of Entry. All the little details tell volumes about the area. My favorites are the "See Ya!" escaped prisoner just to the right of the shell fountain and the Fire Department.

Thanks for all the great ideas...I have been there twice and browsing their website & came up with nothing. I knew I could count on DIS....my son is 9 he will be so happy I found some "learning" to do on vacation :rotfl: Seriously we keep it to a minimum with the homework he will get from school but it does help to keep him quiet while other DS needs a nap.

And to add to this, just the general education about dinosaurs and how there are extinct creatures (not just dinos), and what all that entails and means. And Twister (Tornado preparedness) and Disaster (Earthquake preparedness), and you can also educate him on how these 2 things occur. Warm air interacts with cold air tornado etc., plates in the earth adjust and shift and cause earthquakes etc.

I may have just been a nerd as a kid but I loved learning about things before I experienced them. Dinosaurs were my favorite in 2nd grade and whenever I saw a model or a skeleton of one I couldn't help but get so excited I would tell everyone about them.

We used to cruise quite a bit too so when were studying the Caribbean islands and indians then went there I couldn't help but blab too. I knew all about the virgin islands and who owned what and what year (like I know anymore). Like I said, maybe I was just a geek but it really thrilled me as a kid to experience something I had learned about or experience it then learn more about it.

Whenever we bring a newbie family member to Universal/Islands we have a movie marathon beforehand. We watch every movie that is featured in the parks. When we get to the parks we have a scavanger hunt for details... I believe there is a link on this site for hidden things ( like the tiny king kong statue in the Mummy Returns ride ) try it! The kids love it! :dance3:

Alright I didn't have near as many pictures as I thought of the Jurassic Park.

If you still want to take a look the link is below. I have lots of albums that you might could look around and do like a "I am a tall building that blah blah blah"

Or I was featured in a movie in which filming was halted due to a hurricane--- okay that might be a bit extreme for a 9 yr old!
