Ok so I have to write a Editorial speech in english and my topic is are disney princesses and heros good role models. My thesis is that kids should still have the opportunity to experience the lessons learned from disneys princesses and heros. However, i need a little help. I need three specific reasons why and explain each. My three reasons are because they teach kids bravery, kindness and how to stay true to yourself. Any opinions on this as well as specific examples from movies would be much appreciated!!!!!

I need three specific reasons why and explain each. My three reasons are because they teach kids bravery, kindness and how to stay true to yourself. Bravery:
-Mulan fighting for China both in the war and going back after she was shunned
-Belle making the choice to take her father's place as the Beast's prisoner

Kindness:
-Same as before, but Belle was being kind in letting her father be free when she took his place

True to Yourself:
-Mulan knew that the whole "bride/wife" thing wasn't for her and stuck with that idea so she could find herself
-Belle was an outcast in her town - true she did realize this but she didn't let it stop her from being herself
-Tiana stuck to her guns and worked hard for her restaurant despite constantly being told by people (fry cook guy, property salesmen people, etc) that she'd never get her own restaurant
-Jasmine refused to go with the arranged marriage because for her marriage should be about love and she wasn't about to go against that.

There are a few ideas that just come to mind - hope it helps! :goodvibes

Kindness:
-Cinderella remained humble and kind despite the abuse of her stepfamily, and in the end, got the happy ending.

Bravery/True to Yourself:
-Ariel went after what she really wanted: to explore land. Though she did make a bad spur-of-the-moment decision in seeking Ursula's help, she still refused to give up on her goal. Later, when she thought all hope was lost, she managed to help stop the wedding of Eric and Vanessa.

This is princesses and heroes, so juast pick and choose what you like.

True to Yourself:
* Rapunzel had the dream to see the floating lights and she never let anything stop her until she finally saw them. She escaped her tower, stood up to her "mother" and hit people with her frying pan.

* Flynn Rider/Eugene Fitzherbert had kind of gone in the wrong direction and took thge wrong road but in the end his experiences with Rapunzel taught him where he really needed and wanted to be, and he ended up turning his whole life around.

* Simba had run off and abandoned the Pridelands after Scar k9illed his father. But the appearence of Rafiki and the ghost of his father in the sky helped him figure ot who he was now, who he needed to be, and who he had been all along. This caused him to save his kingdom and retake control.

* Cinderella had to work for her mean family and through all those years she stayed kind and honest and patient. She didn't get bitter or lazy or angry even though it was tough at times.

Bravery:

* The Simba example above, but also because he went back and challenged Scar and stood his ground and almost died to save the pridelands

* Belle traded off her freedom for her father's, but she also explored the west wing and went back to the castle to warn the beast when Gaston and his crew left to attack

* Hercules fought the cyclops even though he had no strength. He also gave his strength and also almost his life to save Megara. He also helped his father and the other gods defeat Hades.

* Mulan went to fight in her father's place and fought and trained hard for China. She saved Shang and went back to warn Shang and the army and she fought and killed the hun leader even after she was left on the mountainside.

Kindness:

* Pocahontas was kind to John Smith and later the people who came with him even though she didn't know or understand him and even though they had come on their lands and claiming it for their own and digging up the soil looking for gold.

* After the Blustery day and the flood where Owl's house was destroyed, Piglet decided to give his house to Owl even though he had never thought of ewhere he was going to live.

* Snow White was kind to all the forest animals by singing and talking to them. She was also kind to the dwarves by cooking and cleaning for the dwarves and she was even kind to the witch in disguise.

* Thomas O'Malley was kind to Duchess, Marie, Toulouse, and Berlioz and went out of his way to help them find Paris and get back home, even when it put himself in danger.

It might be late, but you could also do Friendship if you need another catagory/topic.

Friendship:

* Nala found Simba and encouraged him to go back. She knew what was best for hima and everyone else evewn when Simba didn't. When Simba left to save the Pridelands, Timon and Pumbaa followed him and helped him although it put themselves in danger.

* Jiminy Cricket stayed with Pinocchio and tried really hard to keep him safe and out of troule even when it didn't always work. He kept faith and was persistant.

* Bambi, Thumper and Flower stayed as faithful friends their whole lives, even when they grew up.

* Flounder helped Ariel with her collection and lkept it a secret. He always followed her on her adventures and helped her break the spelland he stayed her friend through it all.

Hey guys! Thanks for the help! My speech went great!!! He said he loved the content! Plus I ended with "Disney Characters as role models can take children to infinity and beyond!" It all worked out perfectly? Thanks soooooooooooo much=)
