Hi how do I edit the thread titles now as in if i've updated and want to state that or if I can't can someone take that off my trip report thread title.

And how do I change the name of the links to read what I want instead of a big www.whateverwhatever.com/blahdeblahblah

open the thread
near the top right is "Thread Tools" (next to "Watch Thread")
click the Thread Tools, and select Edit from the drop-down menu
it will show the title and you can make changes in that box

for links: highlight the text, then click the little icon that looks like two connect links of a chain (next to the font buttons), and paste the link in the box that appears

It won't let me rename it it just makes a link with whatever name it choses. I want to rename the like like Day 4, part 1 stuff like that instead of it reading www.disboards.whatever.whatever

Maybe I'm not understanding the question...thread titles don't usually have links. For example, the title of this thread is "editing thread title!" and if you click on Thread Tools at the top right, go to Edit Thread (NOT by clicking the "Edit" button at the bottom of the thread near the posting date/time) that should allow you to change the thread title.

Is it something else you are trying to edit? Are you trying to insert a hyperlink and have it read with words instead of the address?

Type what you want to link first. Then high light that section -- ie my website -- then click the link button in the tool bar and paste the url.

If you just click the link button in the toolbar without having anything highlighted, you end up just getting to paste the url without being able to
add the words you want to show (ie 'my website' ).

method 1; my website (highlighted, click link, then paste the url)
method 2: http://www.cactusblossom.org (click link, then paste the url)
method 3: http://www.cactusblossom.org (paste the url without clicking link)

I think they're asking two questions. One was about editing the thread title, and one was about putting in links with custom text, so that they could "index" or "table of contents" their first post a'la a trip report.

Yeah asking two questions. I'm talking about on a trip report where you have an index and link to the post that the update is on. It doesn't work anymore!
