Your post that got deleted was on the Tech board, right? Am I understanding that right? If so, I wouldn't feel bad or take it personally - the mods of that board prune it regularly to make roon for people looking for technical assistance or a place to test their signatures or countdowns. If your post was not tech related, it probably got pruned as a result. I'm sure it didn't have anything to do with breaking board guidelines -- why not ask the tech board mods to move the post to the CB? That is my suggestion, anyway.

My thoughts are on your other thread, Chip. And yes, I do think an email or PM is appropriate and common courtesy, and if not, then it is because of repetitive, frequent abuse, and the OP should be booted in that case.

Snoop, the only thread I have seen pruned is this one http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=381216 the one Cricket has for countdowns, and it has not been pruned since March. I spend a fair amount of time on that board, helping Kathy and Cricket when I can, and do not see any threads pruned, other than that one. Just an observation.

I had a thread deleted a few months back and I don't really understand it either.

I was told by way of email that you are not allowed to send personal messages by way of threads on the DIS boards. But yet I still see threads that are like that almost every day

I guess I just don't understand why some are allowed and others are not.

So my answer is that I was left confused when a thread of mine was deleted

Dan, maybe I used the wrong word -- they move posts over there to the recycle bin regularly to make room for those new posts testing signatures. Is that pruning? You know me, I'm technically challenged. Anyway, at least that is what they did when I was a mod (back when I was a mod and had to walk 10 miles in the snow with no winter coat....LOL....)

Hmmm, maybe the PM thing being turned off could be it. Did you try asking about it on the tech board? Whenever I ask a question there I am so impressed with how quickly I get a response - the tech mods rock! Give it a try Heather, I bet they can give you an answer and then you won't have to worry about it anymore.

Heather - I replied to it. You posted a link from the "Are you Happy With Your Life" thread just last week to the post on the tech board. I had no idea you had written that post/thread a year or years ago. I thought you posted it that day. I responded to it. I don't read dates or tags or any of that stuff, so the day you posted a link to it, I responded to it.

They have a separate sub board there now for testing, like the BD one here on the CB. Test posts there go back to January, which is when I think they started it.

And don't you say that "when I was...................." stuff, there are some here who don't take those words for face value and don't like that, LOL.

Using old threads for "storage" really isn't a very good idea- even on the Tech board, we try to keep posts on topic or move them.

Perhaps you should look into setting up some webspace of your own, or setting up a blog site?
