Edit from Home-made DVD?

Anyway, I'm looking to edit movies from (homemade) dvds. I have a VHS transfer machine that transfers VHS to DVD (Sony DVDirect). It makes the menu etc. But i'm looking to edit the movie/footage in Pinnacle. Can it be done?

I went to Staples and they said i could probably put the video on my computer library but i haven't figured it out yet.

Any help?

Homemade DVDs typically aren't copy-protected, so you would be able to get the MPEG2 files and edit them with pretty much any video-editing software. Unfortunately you can't just copy them off the DVD. I bet there's free software to do this. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
