I know this has been asked before but just a clarification….I know an 11 year old can be EITHER kids club or edge…but can they go back and forth during the cruise…based on the activities being offered at each? I thought yes but just read in “the unofficial guide” that once a decision is made, it can’t be changed. Anyone know for sure?

11 year olds can go back and forth between both. They don’t have to choose one or the other.

You may have to give the child self-checkout privileges for the kids club, but they can go back and forth.

Between the clubs….like kids club for one activity and then edge later on for another?

I have no problem giving DD checkout privileges… I just think she’s at that in between age where both clubs will appeal to her and I’m wondering if she can go to one one day and the other the next.

Check-out privileges for the kids club. Otherwise, you have to physically go get her out. The Edge and Vibe are always come and go as you will.

Check in and out privileges are automatically given after a certain age I believe (8? maybe older??)

I thought it was 11, but I could be wrong.

Not necessarily. The last cruise we took before DD turned 13, they didn't assign her the self-check out. They hadn't asked when we picked up her magic band, and it slipped my mind to tell them. I got a call the first night, asking me to come pick her up. We got it corrected when I picked her up.

Check out privileges are required for kids in Edge, but as Maggie’sMom noted, they are not automatically given in the Oceaneers Lab. An 11 or 12 year old whose parent/guardian does grant check out privileges can go back and forth between the spaces, even on the same day.

Which is the weird thing for us, because we had DD set up for the Edge on embarkation day that trip. So I thought it was all taken care of.

Yes, that is weird. The first time I signed my daughter up for Edge, the castmember asked whether I had given her sign-out privileges for the Lab. They must have neglected to ask you. I’d think DCL could code their systems to automatically grant the privilege when kids are signed up for Edge, but I think they could do a lot to make their computer systems work better than they do.

You have to give them check out privileges. It isn't automatic at a certain age. When we did Edge we had to sign a waiver that we knew the kids could check themselves in and out.
