Can we use gift cards to pay for ECVs?

I've never done it, but I'm 95% sure the answer is yes (assuming of course you're talking about official WDW ECVs, not off-site rentals).

Of COURSE I'm talking about on site rentals - I can't imagine an off site source would be thrilled with that payment method.

While I'm on the subject - can I use Gift Cards the same way as I would a credit card to pay tips? In other words have the tip taken off the card as opposed to just handing over the card and calling the gift card the tip?

If you are staying on site, the easiest thing to do is give all your gift cards to the front desk. They will apply them to your bill and you can just charge to the room.
