There are carriers with ramps that you can use instead of a trailer as well, I have one on the back of my vehicle that I paid under $100.00 for and it has made multiple trips. I attaches to the hitch just like a trailer would, but I don't need to use the electrical cables because there are no lights on it, just reflectors.
I didn't want to buy a trailer, have to register it (and pay the tax my state assesses) and have to deal with attaching/detaching it all of the time. My carrier folds up flat against the back of the car when not in use so I have an easier time parking and backing up than I would with a trailer. It really takes very little effort to unfold the ramp to get my
ECV off and on.
